Kids' adventure recommendation(s) requested

Another for small children I didn't see mentioned (though you did say you wanted d20 I thought):

Shadows is a simple game, and free to play. Teaches nice lessons about good and bad behavior as well.

You want this one from Goodman Games: Dungeon Crawl Classics #38: Escape from the Forest of Lanterns

You've got a wicked witch, a gumdrop trail, a candy house, fey, and more surreal fairy tale stuff than you can shake a stick at. Many encounters can be solved with diplomacy or changed such that nonviolent solutions work. The one drawback is that it's high level, but you could definitely tweak it so that the witch's muscle was goblins rather than what she actually has....

I admit - after reading this thread, I picked up Faery's Tale Deluxe as well. Looking forward. Also, Doc. Awk - thanks for those links. Joined the yahoo group as well.

Very fruitful thread :)

I definitely wouldn't recommend Grimm - it's a horror game! Not too impressed with the current D&D Basic box either, very little replayability and it seemed very dull, unlike the Basics of yore. It does have pregen iconics, simplified rules. But it's all kinda 'meh'. Faery's Tale looks good.

Personally I'd recommend an old basic set (Moldvay/Mentzer) or a free download of Basic Fantasy RPG or Legends & Lairs, and run a free intro module like The Haunted Tower on Dragonsfoot:

Basic Fantasy:

Edit: If you want to use 3.5 D&D rules, Haunted Tower is easy to convert.
