Kill Bill - part 1

Really? LOL!

Additionally, when he was pitching it to New Line he went in prepared to fight for two movies and was shcoked when they told him no (his heart sank), it had to be three.

So the fact we've ended up with three movies three hours long is nothing short of miraculous.

Don't forget there are a lot of markets for a movie now. Overseas and rental as well as DVD sales. All these things play into the decision and how much they can make. I mean we can talk all day about "hey I would wathc a 3 hour version" but you are betting you 10-20 bucks to someone betting 10-20 million. I think they might have a little more to worry about. Not defending them but consider the other side.

This is not to start an arguement but a commentto stop and think about it from their side. Its a risky chance despite how other movies have done on long formats sure they have some but how many have failed miserably?

One thing to keep in mind is that Kill Bill is supposed to be highly action packed.
Audience's subject to more than 2 hours of intense action tend to become removed from the film emotionaly, similiar to symptons of post tramatic stress syndrome.

Some research done by the Hollywood studios themselves, has suggested that hour and half might be the optimal time for intense action films. Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown just werent that action packed, so if Kill Bill is the blood fest it has been reported to be, I can see why cutting it into two parts could actually help the film.

A quick anecdote: my wife and I went with another couple to see a movie last weekend, and while there we saw a Kill Bill poster. My friend, who is fluent in Japanese saw the kanji without the english title and did a double take. Apparently they are phonetic (sorta) he said "What the heck is "Kiri Biri?" until he read the English title below it. ;)

Flat.
Folks think Taco Bell is good Mexican food.

These facts are undisputed. ;)

As for California, governors come, governors go and economies bounce back eventually. :D

Flat? You've never been to Missouri then. Not flat here. And people don't think taco bell is good mexican, they think it's decent fast food. I will give you that we see the full range of weather here, but thats an advantage, if you like variety.
