Now, just to be clear, I'm not trying to discourage you from doing this campaign.

I just wouldn't use it as written.

Use the themes & memes, but most importantly, change the names.

If you describe your campaign as Cthulhu vs. Camelot, some may jump at it, but I'd be willing to wager that at least as many would run in fear from it.

OTOH, if you describe your campaign as helping a virtuous but fledgling monarchy struggling against an incursion from the Far Realms, you'd probably have a host of willing players.

In fact, you'd probably get a bit of inspiration from Barbara Hambly's Darwath Trilogy (The Time of the Dark (1982), The Walls of Air (1983), The Armies of Daylight (1983)), which explores related themes.

And, FWIW, they're good books, too.
 

IIRC, Rifts England did something like this... replaced the Arthurian legends as D-Bees (outsiders/extraplanar entities) or something like it. It was a good read, and you can likely find it on the cheap. :)
