Kingmaker for Goblins or Orcs

I keep coming back with this title, but it keeps being relevant, so what can I do :P

Jig the Goblin saga is like a Goblins Kingmaker story hour ;-P Not only you get a taste of how it would look for goblins, hobgoblins and orcs respectively - but apart from protagonists/PC's (who have good back-stories to them) all races are quite archetypal. The goblins are as chaotic-evil as it get, more than half of all major problems within books (especially 2nd part) are in-fighting and general incompetence with seasoned disloyalty. Read it, at very least you'll have a laugh ;-)

I really like this idea. I've started (finally!) reading through the Kingmaker books I've received and think the humanoid option would be a lot of fun.

I'm definitely offering up the option for my players to play a group of humanoids if I ever run Kingmaker. The only stipulation is they'd have to be all the same race (orcs with a half-orc or two).

I'll bet if you said "goblins" instead of "kobolds" they'd be all for it.
Naw. I pitched the idea of an all-reptilian group, an all-goblinoid group, an all-sylvan group (centaur, satyr, treant, sprite, etc).

Nothing doing; they opted to play three humans and a half-elf. *shrug*

Some folks don't like to play monster races. I know I fall into that category and despite the interesting ideas that have come up in this thread would have likely been against running a long-term campaign as a monster race.

Definitely not to say anything against some of the idea in this thread. I think it would work well if you found a group of players that like to place monster races in their game.

On the other hand, I often find the monsters much more inspiring than the standard humanoid races. My favorite PC was my gold dragon hatchling, played with the monster base class from Dragon Magazine 320.

Oh, I know that there is a group of folks that do like to play monster based classes. in some of the PbP boards I frequent I see all sorts of playable racial requests. For some monster based classes seems to interest them and for others of us we have very little interest in playing them. Certainly room for all of us! :)
