Just found out about this program today, and DANG! It looks nice! Has anyone else used this? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

I've used it for over a year. It is pretty nice once you get the hang of it.
Also, the developer is VERY involved. Which helps when you have problems. Finally, v2.0 is within a month or so of coming out, and is a near complete rewrite of the program. He currently has a 200 meg zip with a video demo of the new version under the downloads section.

IMHO this program will bring you the closest thing to sitting down with friends. Add a voice program and your good to go.

Be warned though! As a DM it is more work. You have to have your ducks in a row, maps ready, and NPC's all in.

One great feature is that it will import XML PC sheets. So any PC generator that exports to xml will import directly in.

It seems unclear from the website as to whether you could something like import a SRD 3.5 database of rules, spells, monsters, etc. Is this coming in on 2.0? It talks of working under game neutral, 2e D&D, 3e D&D, or GURPS now...

You can pretty much do anything you want with it. One thing to remember is that it is NOT a D20 product. As such it does not include info from the 3.0 or 3.5 SRD. What it includes is the ability to enter in anything you want.

I can tell you that there are some active user groups that have already done this...

I've been curious about this ever since I saw it at GenCon. I've been waiting for version 2.0 ever since. Waiting, and waiting, and waiting. If I thought there were a bigger pool of gamers using the software I wouldn't mind the price so much, but it's hard to find online gamers willing to pay the hefty pricetag that comes with this software.

I'm thinking I'll just buy a webcam and set up minis and a battlemat. From there we can just use a web chat program with or without voice, and a dice bot. Sure beats the extra prep time and cost of Klooge, and it might even make gaming two or three times a week for shorter periods more attractive.

I've been using KloogeWerks Since vers1.2 and I have to say its by far the best online playing program out there.
As well the developer has been very responsive to implementing suggestions that are well thought out but has wisely not implemented every whim presented.
This has helped Klooge grow into a real feature rich but Easy to use digital tabletop program.
The 2.0 Video preview looks stunning the features and reworkings of all the funtions look fantastic and can't wait to try it.
http://www.kloogeinc.com/werks/files/KW_videos.zip its 200mb but well worth the download.

As far as the cost I really don't see it as being all that bad infact i think its dirt cheep 15bucks for a client for unlimited upgrades is not much to me.Its a movie and popcorn.
the 30bucks for a dm server is about the cost of a typical hardcover book...not really breaking the bank.

I do agree that klooge has been a bring your own group program but i'm hoping with the public game browser built into 2.0 we'll see more community play happen.

I've been using the program for a long while now as well and am one of the guys that was pumping out the stuff for use with Klooge.

It is by far the best RPG aid I have ever used. While I agree that initially there is more work in setting up a campaign I would say it now takes me half the time to set things up vs pen and paper methods.

With the ability to upload characters and monsters from etools I basically have an electronic index card of maps, characters, monsters, and sounds to use with klooge that take very little time to add to my campaign.

Excellent program!

Now the real question is, if I'm doing alright now with DM's Familiar and Photoshop in my in person campaign, should I wait for v2.0? The learning curve looks like it will be kinda steep, so if I bought it now I might just need to learn 2.0 once I get 1.7 figured out. Is this sensical, or is 2.0 ungodly far away?
