At what point should dead bodies become difficult terrain? In most games they are just removed from the board, but it seems if there's enough blood and parts around the floor should start getting treacherous. Has anyone tried playing this way, and if so, did it bog down and become un-fun? Or too favorable to ranged characters as they became harder to get to?

I have played in a few games where we kept the dead bodys on the playing field. Most of these were in close quarters fights, such as dungeons and buildings where the blood can pool and the bodys cant be just kicked aside. But in an out doors encounter there is normaly enough room to walk around a body.

Also one thing i do in only remove the minion counters from the field. this is to help keep the battle map clear of cluter and also to show just how weak and unimportant they realy were. Although leaving them on the field can create some memerable moments when the fighter has just finished off 30 minons and has to crawl out from under a pile of goblins.

The bigest thing to remember is that if you leave the bodys on the field you are changing the difficulty of the fight some what by adding difficult terrain. keep that in mind when handing out exp.
 


I can just imagine an encounter with hordes of minons - bodies pilling up, feet slipping on blood and viscera - enventually the PCs worried because they're gonna drown in blood!!!!
 


There was a feat in Libris Mortis that let you make zombies that exploded with negative energy when they died. Undead in the radius were healed, living were harmed. Fun times!
 


Fighter cuts down two minions, keeps attacking the others.

Minion A: "Bob, you okay?"
Minion B: "Yeah...look, he's distracted! We should ht him from behind!"
Minon A: "Are you crazy? You saw what they can do! Let's just drink our invisibility potions and sneak out while we're still alive."
Minion B: "Good plan"
