Knight Rider

What do people think of the new Knight Rider? My sister loves to watch this show, which means I tend to watch it too. If she didn't tape it, however, then I likely wouldn't watch it.

I'm not sure what to make of it. It doesn't really have much of an identity as far as I'm concerned. And it doesn't really feel like Knight Rider.

So, what's your opinion?

I am still watching.

It doesn't feel like Knight Rider might be accurate. The focus on that high tech team is not what we know from the original series, and the fact that Micheal basically has only one girl in his main focus instead of the "girl of the week" is different, too. Different doesn't have to mean bad, though.

It seems to appeal to male fantasies in some ways, and the characters sometimes seem to act a little too... "childish" in that regard. The stories aren't particularly innovative, but I wouldn't expect that from a show called Knight Rider, either. ;)

I am still not sure whether to expect it being canceled or not. ;)

They're revamping the show after about episode 10 or 11. Half the cast are going, and it's going back to the original style of one man and a car trying to help out normal people. They're also *trying* to get The Hoff as a regular, depending on his schedule.

The original KR is like "Lone Ranger on four wheels who is probably smarter than the rider."

The current KR is the son of Lone Ranger who have a mysterious military past. Throw in the FBI like it's a third wheel, which is sad since the daughter of Sidney Potier have much to offer. Her character should have been the field agent, rather than Sarah who was not too long ago, was a university professor.

IMHO, the new KR is too Baywatch-ey.

They need to revamp the series again. Don't know if they'll keep the C130 plane though, which is a better upgrade to the trailer truck as their mobile garage.

One more thing. Get rid of Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT.

It's pretty terrible, but I'm still finding it fun.

But yeah - definitely a show that panders to male fantasies. It's about cars, boobs, and a dash of violence (found in every single episode). If you like those 3 things, you're good to go.

I am not sure if all that high tech gear is not a fourth factor in the mix. But otherwise I agree. Male fantasies, and it works on me. I could never call myself fan, I think, but I am watching it - it's a "guilty pleasure".

Anyone has an insight on its rating?

I watch it occasionally. But as "background noise that I may glance at occasionally while doing something else" -- but it isn't a show that I go out of my way to watch nor do I pay it full attention when I am watching it.

The ratings haven't been great which is why (as Morrus mentioned) they are revamping the show. Cutting down the cast and making it less "terrorist of the week" and more "helping the common man"
