Knights - Likes & Dislikes

As a random aside, I was just listening to "Light My Fire," by The Doors. The last lines of the song are "Try to set the night on fire!"

Which I heard as "Try to set the knight on fire!"

Heck, the Knight might be the first way to stop my DM from metagaming against the tanks.

Nothing really ever stops DM metagaming except getting a new DM. You obviously really enjoy the tank concept, as I do now and again, but if I were you I'd just make a crazyfied damage dealer and call it a day.

Taunt ability, specifically the Test of Mettle. It's a lot like mind control or Suggestion as a supernatural ability. Is this supposed to be an FX class? It really breaks the suspension of disbelief for me. It's twice as bad when used against a PC, too.

Not to mention that it doesn't matter what language anybody speaks. The higher power pretty much is the equivilant of a reversed Mass Charm Monster Spell, but even more powerful IIRC because there is no HD limit. They just need to go ahead and admit that it's a mind affecting supernatural ability.

Before the PHB II came out I ran a King Arthur game where the party came across a troupe of Wight Knights. They didn't get it until it was almost too late. These WKs were smart, wore full plate, and insisted on staying up all night as part of a "Holy Vigil" - which caused one wanna-be White Knight to want to stay up all night too!

I believe that they have good flavor, but are underpowered compared to the other core classes. Giving them a good Fort save and some more skill points and class skills might make them more playable.
