Interesting. I really appreciate all the input; I'm definitely checking it out.

I've never been to my FLGS, as it is not really L (30mins drive and usually awful traffic). But this is a good excuse to see what's up with them. I just hope they are F too.

I'll buy a couple of issues and see if they fit my game. I was going to buy them online, as I do everything, but hearing everybody supporting their FLGS makes me want to give them a try too. :)

Anyway, if I like it, I'll subscribe as soon as I receive my last Dragon.

Great mag. The comic is awesome, not as funny as it once was, but much more engaging (kinda like OotS, actually). The articles are hit and miss like any gamer mag. Noah's Gamer's Rant column used to be a great read. He almost seems to be holding back a bit these days with some losers complaining about the column, even though he says he isn't. The result is less funny with too much narrative.

Please don't put labels like "losers" on people that disagree with you. That leads to a very troubled path.

I really like KotDT. I don't subscribe, however, because that's one of those things I'd rather give my FLGS a few extra coins for carrying.
Same here, I have two FLGS to support :D

Knights of the Dinner Table is truly an excellent and fun gaming magazine.

All by their lonesome, the comic strips make each issue a tremendously good value.

Throw in the gaming-related material, the reviews, and even the ads, and the magazine is just about the best value out there in gaming.

One element pervades each and every issue of KoDT -- the company's love of the game. And by game, I mean pretty much ANY game, ranging the gamut from role-playing to board games, card games, and everything else. These guys (and gals) love gaming, and that love shows through each issue.

Even the ads can be a lot of fun...the advertisement for Aces & Eights included a colorful multi-spread page -- the game just looks like more fun than you can shake a weasel at.

Just to be technical - the KODT strip is approximately 25-30 pages of each 80 page issue. :)
Which is unfortunately why I stopped buying. I used to have a a subscription at the FLGS, and I love the comic, but can't justify $5 for a mag that I read 25-30 pages of. If possible I usually just read a friend's copy.

I've been a subscriber for about three years, and picked it up at the game store for many months before that. IMHO it has the most diverse and entertaining content of any role playing game oriented magazine, and I hope that it will take its soon to be status of the only major print medium RPG mag (as far as I know) to expand its subscription base and up its content.

As for the comics - KODT is one of only two comics mags that I have ever read regularly in my whole life, the other being Cerebus in it's early years. I'm not saying that the two bear any resemblence to one another, only that they share the honor of the only two that have struck my fancy.

The other content is an eclectic and varied mix, as others have described,
isn't limited to D20, and tends to contain more bits and pieces that are useful in my games than the others.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to anyone here, though I shouldn't have used the word anyway. My bad.

I used to read Shadis, where Jolly first started writing Knights, way back in my M:tG days. So when I saw a copy of issue 1 of KoDT at my FLGS, I had to have it. I didn't realize it became a regular mag until issue 13, so I had to pick up a couple Bundles of Trouble, as back issues were tough to find even back then. So I unloaded my #1 last year. $175. Crazy.
