Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

Down at the end of the corridor, amid the whirling blades surrounding the undead priest, the Loyalist named Kefax stops for a moment, raises his shield between him and the undead priest, and speaks to... some. "I'm not sure if I should kill you or thank you, wizard."

The person he's speaking to doesn't reply.

"But, what's done is done," he growls. "Now, let's destroy this thing and get on with killing the heroes, shall we?"

Next to the Loyalist commander, the man named Xix slashes out at the undead priest but the creature's reflexes are too fast for the man. He takes a step away from the evil priest of the Soulkeeper. "Sir, you're okay?" He asks Kefax.

"Go deal with The Exemplars," Kefax orders. "This one is beyond you. We will deal with it."

"You will die, interloper!" The undead priest screams.

"You and your master's time is long over, priest. I will put you down and then present what is left of you to my master." The man's voice is steady, calm, cold.

OOC: @Tellerian Hawke, you are now up for Tim's normal place this round in the fight. Maggs has moved past him and is still charmed. Vinny is now 20 ft. behind Tim and Falen (flying) and Maggs are 25 ft. behind Tim. Akos and Rockhorn are 50 ft. behind Tim.

Note that the Soul Stolen stands right in front of Tim on his right. Kellam is one square behind it. The, now, Ex-Loyalist thug named Viscardi stands next to the Soul Stolen and is threatening it and Kellam, not Tim. As well, the Savage Skeleton Warrior is on the floor on the other side of the door. It is still prone but has cover behind the one open doorway.

Note that while Tim hears the Undead Priest yell at Kefax, those foes are too far away (and their voices are dampened by the sound of the undead priest's whirling blades spell) for Tim to hear the rest of the conversation clearly without a successful Listen check (-4 circumstance penalty to Tim's roll due to the sounds of combat). The base DC for people talking is 0. He is 35 feet away from Kefax and the Undead Priest (+4). And, Tim is clearly distracted (+5). Thus, that's a DC 9 Listen check for Tim at a -4.

That is all for me tonight.

OOC: Not sure if AC 21 hits the Soul Stolen. But here are the rolls. Tim basically attacks him with a full round action, and then takes a free 5 ft. adjustment backwards. Tim does NOT want the Soul Stolen to revive any more foes!

First Greatsword Attack vs Soul Stolen: 1D20+17 = [4]+17 = 21

Second Greatsword Attack vs Soul Stolen: 1D20+12 = [1]+12 = 13

Dex Check DC 10: 1D20+1 = [10]+1 = 11

Rizvan Attack vs Soul Stolen: 1D20+16 = [5]+16 = 21

If Greatsword Attack #1 hits:

Damage from first Greatsword attack vs Soul Stolen: 2D6+10 = [2, 6]+10 = 18

If Rizvan Attack hits:

Damage for Rizvan attack if it hits: 1D8+9 = [3]+9 = 12
Kellam watches as Tim tries to take the Soul Stolen down, but the creature's reflexes and Tim's luck gets in the way. The Tall Knight near drops his blade but manages to balance himself. Then, he takes a step back away from the undead creature.

"Go!" Kellam orders the undead creature, which hisses at both Kellam and at Tim. "Revive the others for the glory of our Master."

Big Tim can tell the creature wants to attack him, but cannot go against Kellam's commands for some reason. The creature's eyes turn towards the one open door into the High Sanctuary of the Ancients. Kellam, instead of advancing towards Tim, takes a step to his right, which puts Viscardi in between the Loyalist commander and Big Tim. The man keeps his guard up but doesn't attack the thug or cast another spell.

Viscardi shifts his position with Kellam's movement. "I had a feeling you were on going to do this... I know you can't always risk attacking and controlling that abomination." Viscardi glaces over his shoulder at Tim for a half second. "His control over it isn't absolute if we can keep him attacking. But, if he loses control, Imninon will go after you and the Loremaster, but it might go after Kellam too."

"So, you were paying attention during the prep for this assault. I think Kelik has underestimated you intelligence, traitor."

"Without a doubt," Viscardi replies. "And perhaps you and your Master as well, I think?"

"We shall see," Kellam replies coldly.

OOC: Kellam takes a 5 ft. step to the other side of the corridor. He now has minimal "soft" cover vs. Tim. He takes no other action, as he controls the Soul Stolen's actions.

Viscardi's talks as a free action.

Down at the other end of the corridor, Custodio looks towards the exit, then decides to step up next to the knight and prepare for anything that might get past Akos and Rockhorn. He looks at Tuck. "Tuck! Go, help Vitus with the prisoner." then, he looks back towards the djinni princess. "Lady Eeldai, the way should be clear enough for you to go through. I'll get the other door."

For a moment, the female outsider hesitates, but then she nods and squeezes her way through the door while in flight. The passage beyond and Gattas are barely a obstacle to her. She flies up and out of the lower rooms and into the guard house above.

The young knight watches her fly away and then rushes out of the labyrinth past Gattas. He looks up at her disappear into the guard house and moves to grab ahold of the stairs and start climbing.

Custodio sighs. "Well, that's something at least."

OOC: Free action to talk.

Tim smiles at Imninon, and says, "Ah, yes, this is what happens to all ambitious and talented savants who pledge their souls to evil. You are now nothing more than a puppet on a string. See how he takes away your vengeance against me? What you want, what you desire, is inconsequential to him. He laughs at your lack of self-determination! Your free will is GONE! All for the glory of your so-called 'master.' How pathetic! Do you really think your master will reward you for anything that you do? The purpose of you, and the rest of Kellam's ilk, is to die in the master's service! I really wanted have it out with you, but it appears that I will be robbed of that pleasure, because you don't have the SPINE to think for YOURSELF! You are nothing more than a trained DOG! So go on, doggie, fetch! Kellam has thrown the stick! So fetch like a good dog!"

OOC: Attn: @MetaVoid, I'm going to assume you're going to have Rockhold his ground. Ready an attack? Or would you prefer for him to retreat?

In the Labyrinth:
Rockhorn feels frustrated. He knows he should retreat more, but he doesn't want to leave the others behind. Every part of him wants to charge someone... anyone, but he knows Maggs is not the right target as long as she is under Akos control. So, he wait and hlds his ground.

"Tim, let them pass! We have undead to fight! Guildsmen, you're help is noted and appreciated, I will speak for you. But if you turn again, I will speak against you. Be aware. Maggs, hurry, hold on!" Akos previous attempt didn't go great in the din of the battle, but his charm is holding for now.
It's not the most rousing speech Akos has ever given, but he was rushed. The other Loyalists still acting loyal to their commanders scoff at his words or simply chuckle. Even Viscardi isn't impressed by the Loremaster's words.

Kellam shakes his head and speaks mockingly to Tim. "It seems you friend cannot find his words today. No matter, once I cut out his tongue, no one will ever have to listen to one of his righteous sermons ever again."

Up In the Guard House:
Princess Eeldai's sudden appearance up through the hold in the floor is impressive to behold. She flies through the air and stops in front of Spritewing and Sergeant Griffith. The other guard next to the open doorway looks at her, his face aghast in disbelief.

The sergeant takes a moment to stop and bow to Eeldai before starting on the ropes binding the petrified wizard to Spritewing. "It seems The Exemplars were not exaggerating when they told the Lord Commander a djinni was trapped down below, and you are a noble djinni, correct?"

"I am," she says while floating perfectly in mid air. She looks at Spritewing. "Are you okay, little uni," she asks. "They aren't mistreating you?" She remains wary of the entire situation.

"Certainly not," the sergeant assures her. He looks at the guard who is still transfixed on the genie. "Mr. Masson! Do not be rude to our guest! Now, go! You have your orders!"

"Y-yes, sir," he replies with a sharp salute. Then, he rushes past them towards the door leading out of the guard post. he is soon pacing next to his fellow guard.

"Now, if you would so kind as to help me get this petrified man off Mr. Spritewing here, I would be so grateful. Someone tied these ropes very well and it's hard cutting them off."

So go on, doggie, fetch! Kellam has thrown the stick! So fetch like a good dog!"
The creature that was once Imninon growls at Tim. It wants to reply to the Tall Knight's insult, but all it says is "Tyymmbeck... hel-"

"NO! You will only speak and listen to me, creature! Now, go and bring them back. Start with the wizard." Kellam is more forceful with his words and the Soul Stolen is forced to comply. It moves past Tim and Viscardi and steps over the prone skeleton on the floor.

The ex-thug tries to cut the creature with his longsword, but the creature is too fast for him. The man's hands are shaking and he nearly drops his blade.

The creature once known as Imninon turns and takes another step behind the closed door and bring its gaze down upon the dead wizard lying in front of it. "Riiissse."

It's powerful eye rays pour evil necromantic energy into the dead man and the body shudders and wails. "Yes, I knew the master would bless me so... I knew you would come, thrall!" Ten the voice of the undead wizard hisses. "Is the knight dead? Did the Exemplars come?"

"Nooo. Yesss."

The voice howls again but Tim is not sure if it is pain or joy. Then Tim watches as the bugbear cleric floats through the open doorway above the prone skeleton. Even with its armour on, the new vampire managed to find its way out of the portal room to menace Tim and the ex-thug. "I HUNGER!"

"Your first meal is there, Khagron!" Kellam points to Tim with his shield arm. "The Exemplars! You were to kill them no matter what. If you make it quick, my master will double your reward."

Viscardi tries to steady himself and brings is blade around to try to catch the Loyalist commander unware. It is a good strike and would have hit a lesser foe. But Kellam easily blocks the strike with his shield and chuckles at the ex-thug. Viscardi takes a step back towards Tim while keeping one eye on the bugbear vampire that just floated out of the doorway.

"And, this one?" Khagron motions to Viscardi.

"You may eat him at your leisure," Kellam laughs.

The vampire bugbear cleric roars in delight and then notices his weapon... tied to Tim's belt, "I will be taking that back, knight! After I snap your neck!"

OOC: Soul Stolen: moves, takes AoO from Viscardi; turns dead wizard into a wight. The Wight Enchanter starts prone and it must wait a full round before it can act.
- Viscardi - AoO vs Soul Stolen: 1D20+8 = [2]+8 = 10 (miss)
1D6+5 = [6]+5 = 11

Khagron makes a double move (flying) and appears in the corridor right next to Tim.

Viscardi - Attacks Kellam: 1D20+8 = [16]+8 = 24 (miss)
1D6+5 = [5]+5 = 10
- Takes a 5 ft. step away from Kellam towards Tim.

DM's Note: I have another post upcoming for the undead priest, savage skeleton, Cassara, and Kefax. Then, I will make a separate post for Tuck.

@MetaVoid, Spritewing should remain still while the guard sergeant cuts the ropes off. Spritewing will be free on the sergeant's turn next round. After that, it will be @TaranTheWanderer's turn for Vitus.
