Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

"Maggs, go. Once you're up there, surrender to the guards. Do not threaten them. You will be treated fairly. Elite, go with her, make sure she is separated from the fanatics! We will cover you."
Akos keeps ordering the stubborn elite to retreat.

Custodio cannot see or hear anything beyond the ice storm around and front of him. He hopes that Tim will be able to stand toe to toe against the vampire. The Vanquisher cleric loathes the idea of retreating, but he knows dying here in this place will only give Phelix a victory and possibly trap their souls in an undead form.

He retreats out of the storm and out of the Labyrinth past Rockhorn who is standing at the door. He moves past an Elite, as well as Akos, Vinny, and the Loyalist named Maggs who is completely enthralled by Loremaster's fey charms.

"Maggs, go. Once you're up there, surrender to the guards. Do not threaten them. You will be treated fairly. Elite, go with her, make sure she is separated from the fanatics! We will cover you."
Akos keeps ordering the stubborn elite to retreat.
"I will do as you suggest, Loremaster," she replies while looking back towards the entrance to the Labyrinth. "Will you save Viscardi from the Master's undead thralls? Or is it too late for him?"

"If he somehow manages makes it to the door before Sir Tymbeck and before Rockhorn pulls it closed, then we will accept his surrender," Custodio replies to her. "But we cannot throw away the lives of the guards down here and up there..." he points up the ladder. "For one man's life."

"And his soul," she shrugs. "But, it is of no matter. He's not that important in the grand scheme of things. And, he is a traitor to Master Phelix." She glares at Gattas. "I can only hope that the Alienist King will forgive my decision, once I convince him that the Loremaster will be a better ally than enemy." She smiles at Akos. There is a strange look in the woman's eyes. "Perhaps he will grant me early entry into the paradise of the Unseen Abyss. That would be a wonderous reward indeed."

Custodio glances at Akos nervously.

Then, from somewhere beyond the frigid ice storm spell, there is a strange inhuman gibbering howl that sounds strangely familiar to Custodio's ears. Yet, it is alien at the same time.

"Gods, Phelix let his spawn loose into the Labyrinth," Gattas says nervously.

"Do not insult the lineage of the Master's great son!" Maggs snaps.

In the Guard House:
While the young knight doesn't hear Falen's shouted words, he determines that there will be others who need room to retreat up the ladder. He steps and bows to the djinni princess and takes a position next to her outside of the converted cell. He keeps one eye on the approaching guards but once they reach the petrified man, according to the one named Akos, the two guard drag away the statue, which is still levitating.

These... hereos, allies of the Lormaster, have great talents and would be greatly respected in his homeland.

OOC: Okay, so this post details all the actions for Custodio, Sin Voz, Delwyn Masson, and Adalbert Halle. Custodio and Sin Voz go before Rockhorn while the two guards go after Rockhorn but before Akos. The actions for the creature known as Phelix's Son happens well beyond where the PCs can see, but they can clearly hear it howling.

@MetaVoid, is Rockhorn delaying or is it a readied action to pull the door shut the moment after Tim rushes through the door?

@Neurotic, any notable actions this round, or is the Loremaster just directing NPCs to retreat. What's his Climb skill? Or is he going to have someone above lower down the rope to him?

Once I know exactly what you're plans are, I will complete Tim's retreat through the door.

After yelling at everyone around, Akos focuses his power through the bracers and tries to hurt the vampire. He knows how he could hold the vampire away, but would need time to recover needed items. At least his holy symbol is around his neck.

Move: one step forward if needed for better line
Swift: activate bracers of eldritch admixture
Standard: hits touch AC 16, 28 acid damage, but level check only 11 :(

OOC: @Tellerian Hawke:
Tim knows he cannot save Viscardi if he doesn't save himself first. Plus, the Tall Knight knows he has a responsibility to his fellow Exemplars and the trio of souls that were the mission. Tim waits for the ice storm to stop, then rushes away towards the exit of the Labyrinth.

He hears the Brelish thief wail in despair. "Noooo! You cannot leave me behind!"

His retreat takes Khagron partly by surprise, and the vampire barely has time to lash out with a wicked claw. The attack is too slow and Tim squeezes through the doorway and past his allies and head straight to the ladder. He starts climbing and is thankful that the sturdy ladder is made from adamantine. It bares his weight without difficulty, although as Tim looks up, he see that he'll have to switch to the other side of the ladder mid climb. One of the Elites is part way up the ladder himself.

OOC: Knightfall Request: 1d20+19 Roll: [2] = 21 (miss)
Request: 1d4+11 Roll: [2] = 13
Reason: Khagron's AoO vs Big Tim

Rockhorn senses Akos intent and waits a split second to allow the Loremaster to move and target Khagron through the tall doorway. The blast of acid manages to catch the vampire directly on the chest. The creature howls and tries to reach the door before it closes, but Rockhorn is faster and pulls the door shut while Viscardi curses at him and the other Exemplars.

"You bastards!" He yells. "Your word means nothing! You are not great her-"

The door shuts and Viscardi's words are cut off. Rockhorn moves towards the ladder and is forced to stop directly Big Tim who is on the ladder, 10 feet above Rockhorn's head. The position is not ideal...

Then, Rockhorn hears 'mental' laughter and the psionic whisperings of the psionic doors from behind him. The doors beckon him to say the phrase, as the psionic script comes into view once more. The voice of the Labyrinth's creator and mad guardian whispers to Rockhorn. 'You cannot escape the madness. It will follow you... forever'. The last word echoes in Rockhorn's mind.

OOC: @MetaVoid, does Rockhorn have any abilities that will completely block telepathic contact from the Mad Soul?

If not, them make a DC 10 Will saving throw. If Rockhorn makes the save, he blocks out the whispering and it fades away. If he doesn't, the whispering gets louder, and it tries to compel him to say the phrase, move back to the double doors, and open them. That is a second Will saving throw at DC 15. If that save is made, he is only shaken for 1 round. If he fails, he moves back towards the doors, says the phrase, and opens the double door.

@Neurotic, Akos projects some sort of protective aura, right? If so, then that bonus would apply to Rockhorn's saving throws. The wild dwarf is standing right next to him.

Vitus hears Viscardi's outrage and fear.

Another undead for Phelix

He wonders about the Ticin hero he heard in the distance. I guess he'll die too.

He looks down at the unconcious girl,

He sighs and drags the girl clear of the trap door to give people room to retreat and then casts Detect Magic

Even if they come back for her, they won't reclaim her belongings.

Tuck takes off his haversack and quickly brings to mind one of the potions he bought. He drinks it down and then watches as Vitus drags away the unconscious Loyalist woman towards one of the awaiting cells.

"I've got healing potions here. Falen, how are you?"

Down Below:
The guard named Betella finally retreats away from the now, closed doors. She moves to the other end of the room and keeps one eye on Gattas. She waits for an opening to start climbing.

Alban finishes climbing up the ladder and moves out of the way. He goes to help Vitus with the captured woman. "I'll get the keys."

Vincenzo seizes on the opportunity and moves to scale the ladder. He moves quicker than the guard but not as quickly as Tim. He nearly reaches the top of the ladder. "Can someone pull me up out of this damn place!"

High Above Old City:
Spritewing beats his wings as fast as he can and he is soon over the Park of Angels. It is easy for him to tell the difference between it and the nearby thicket next to the South Gate, which is quite scraggily. For the first time, from high above, the dungeonbred pegasus can see that this ward of Old City is very green. There is not only the Park of Angels and the South Gate Thicket but also the two thickets that run along the northern and eastern walls of the ward.

As Spritewing dives down to land in the park, he can clearly see the deep tangle of gangly trees, harsh brush, and creeping vines of what the locals call the Jade Thicket. That is, supposedly, where the fey well is located. The walls next to the thicket are covered in vines and Spritewing can see that there are areas of the walls where the vines have recently been cut back. Workers on top of the walls wave to him as he wings past.

The other thicket, called the Somber Green, seems to be less... wild. Is that the right word to use in a city like Bluffside? Of course, Old City stands apart from the other districts. All of Bluffside's districts are more like miniature cities or towns connected by winding roads and separated by deep crevasses in the earth.

Spritewing tries to put it all out of his mind. He must find this 'Willow' person, and quickly. Hopefully, she can help. It doesn't take him long to spot her once he's down on the ground. She seems to holding court in the centre of the park with the birds and small animals as her subjects. She is definitely not a cleric. Her garments make her look more like a witch... a homeless witch.

As Spritewing approaches the human woman, he can tell she is very old and very frail looking. She does seem to sense his arrival, so, at least, she's not blind.

"Ooh, aren't you a pretty handsome sort," she says with a lilting voice in the Sylvan tongue. She stands and beckons Spritewing forward. The small animals part for him. Perhaps she is a druid? "Oh my," she exclaims when she sees Spritewing's many cuts and bruises from the battle in the labyrinth. "Who has hurt you?" she demands. "Tell me quickly, so I might give them a smack with my cane."

She is on her feet quickly, with her gnarled wooden cane in her left hand and her long white hair flowing nearly to the ground, and she is soon investigating one of Spritewing's deeper wound. "Tsk... Tsk... This just won't do." She notes the dungeonbred pegasus's saddle. "Where is your rider? Did he do this to you?"

She digs a shiny apple from one her pouches. The fruit almost seems to appear in her hand as if by magic. She holds out the apple to the dungeonbred pegasus and tells him to eat it. She senses wariness from Spritewing, and she gets a stern look on her face. "I would never poison one of your kind. Now! Eat! It!"

The old woman stomps one foot on the ground and glares at Spritewing with almost a childlike pout on her face.

OOC: Okay, @MetaVoid, imagine the old woman is an ancient version of certain Disney princess with long hair and a way with horses. But, no, she doesn't wield a frying pan, and her hair doesn't glow when she sings. But, you get the idea.

For MetaVoid Only: The apple is actually a magical healing fruit equivalent to a potion of cure critical wounds at Caster Level 15.

Spritewings dips a knee and wings toward the crone responding in Dwarven, the only language he can actually speak.
"I would never dream of an idea about a concept of you poisoning me, Auntie."
Still, he doesn't immediately take the fruit, rushing through information.
"My rider is fighting with The Exemplars, there is a cult under the Gate of Scales playing with dangerous magics. We went on a rescue mission and they reacted by bringing in the monsters, first an elemental, then augmented humans and most recent being powerful undead. I'm looking for support! And you were the closest. Will you come?"
Only then he takes the apple.

Munching it quickly he feels his many wounds close.
"Thank you, a very nourishing apple."

OOC: If he heard what is going below then adds "A vampire cleric"

Cure Critical: 4D8+15 = [2, 2, 4, 6]+15 = 29 - not the greatest effect, but still
