Kuo-toa replacement?

For the first time in my life I thought Kuo-toa were a good idea this morning, then I realize that they took them out of the SRD.

Any of you smart people have any OGC suggestions for an amphibious humanoid that could take their place in my adventure?

I want something a little more exotic (and deadly) than trogs or lizardmen.

Sahuagin are a good option, although this isn't a sea setting but watery underground caverns.

I'll look at Pisceans and see if they match what I'm looking for.

Would locathahs do the trick?

Good suggestion, but locathahs are sorta like lizardmen in my book, just a different low-level humanoid for an aquatic setting.

I think I've finally decided just to make up my own new creature, an aquatic version of a salamander that lives in watery underground caverns.

Pisceans are good nice fishies, but they are not amphibians enough. Not having legs and all that. The water salamander idea is great. I might stole it one day.
