Kuo-toa replacement?

Who said Sahuagin can't live in watery underground caverns?

I've got Fresh Water Sahuagin IMC - they are associated with fiendish eels instead of Sekola the Shark

I recommend purchasing a six-pack of Redhook IPA (India Pale Ale), then watching the wide-screen versions of "War-Gods of the Deep" and "Creature From the Black Lagoon".

Kuo-Toa are cool, but so are many critters still in the SRD. Aboleth and skum are still in there. Go for it! :)

Why can't you use Kuo-Toa's?

Anyways, if you have MoF, how about Bullywug?

Presumably, he's working on something for publication, which means he can only use things that are OGC. Kuo-toa have been, IIRC, removed from the SRD, and are thus no longer OGC. So no kuo-toa for Will.

Same thing applies to bullywugs -- they're in MoF, and not the SRD.

If you're going to replace Kuo-Toa with an amphibian humanoid, and you have Monsters of Faerun, I think you're better with the Siv than the Bullywugs.

Or, you can toss the cultural assumptions, rename them, and use them together as two castes of the same culture.

What CR range are you looking at?

Is aquatic the only restriction?

If you want to avoid the reptilian end, why not go for an Annis (CR6) with some Merrow lackeys (Annis is aquatic and can have Ogres (CR2) with them, why not Merrow).

Arawyn

The annis seem like a good suggestion. I was thinking along the lines of sea hags. Hags are underused, IMO, and Wil could remove a SA or two to bring the CR more in line with the kuo-toa. Maybe these hags are evolutionary throwbacks. :)
