L4W Discussion Thread III

Quick question about DM credits. They are calculated on a time basis right? So if say DM 1 and DM 2 start their adventure at the same time. DM 1 posts updates every day, DM 2 posts updates every other day (but runs 2 adventures) so their work/posting amount is the same. Say DM 1 finishes theirs in 1 month, but runs another and completes it in 1 month. They get two credits. Say DM 2 takes double the time (posting half as often) so finishes in 2 months. He gets 4 credits (2 x 2).

What I'm getting is there is actually a disincentive for the DM to post frequently as they'll earn more credits by running slower. At least in terms of credits. Just a thought.

Yep.

Stuff like this was discussed, probably about a year ago now, when we were deciding whether to have DM credits at all. I still believe, as I did then, that no one actually decides whether to DM or not, or to post on any given day or not, based on DM credits. The motivator is, as it always has been, the fun. You can't successfully DM in PbP if it's not fun, and if it is, well, the points are kind of irrelevant.

Cool, just wanted to make sure i understood it.

As an aside I think that I'll need a judge for Fire & Ice as Ata hasn't been around in a bit. At least until/if he comes back.

No idea where Ata is. I sent him an email a few days ago, but haven't gotten any response yet.

My theory is that his ISP is acting up again. At least I hope it's something as relatively minor as that.

About the new wiki: I created l4etest.wikia.com a while ago, added a character page, but never got around to creating the template to see if it worked. If anyone else wants to edit it and see if it supports everything we're doing, fell free. (Let me know if you don't have access and I'll figure out how to open it iup.)

bluwiki.com is another possibility. LEW has used them (lightly) for years, which is pretty much all I know about it, except that it's free and runs MediaWiki.
