L4W Discussion Thread IV

At least it's a good problem to have right? Too many adventures...

C'mon people, tell your friends, family, etc how much fun it is here :)

I've been trying to recruit a bit. I think I would have gotten one of my friends to jump in if it wasn't such a pain to make a sheet on the wiki. I believe his exact words were, "That thing is a &$(#! kludge!" He's a programmer, it it offended his programmer sensibilities. :)

Speaking of which, I haven't heard anything recently about moving to the new wiki. What's going on with that?

As a programmer, I sympathize. It's awful. But, eh. Gets the job done.

Last I heard, stonegod was in the process of porting over the LEB sheets, and we were going to wait and see how he got on. Fragsie did some work on converting some of the main wiki pages, but didn't finish, I think. I've been quietly annotating a small handful of adventures in the new wiki when I can find the time.

In short, it's a mess.

A group of adventurer need to find an item/creature/person. One skill challenge to find it (if they can) and one really tough encounter asking all resources. Daily, AP, Encounter, Magical Item, everything go on!

When I can, I will link the task to someone background. JoeNotCharles just gave me an idea for my first bounty hunt.
Not this idea, I hope. I seem to remember something about Joe considering that one some time ago.

Ironically, the first team that tried resulted in our party cashing in. :D

The templates have been converted. As I posted elsewhere, there is no support for the macros to do auto-calculation. So if we do move them, we'll need anyother way of doing math.

However... Morrus has seemed to indicate that there will be no Wiki in ENWorld 4.0. I've posted a few times that this will make us sad, but no response one way or the other. So, we have two choices:
- Convert to the new wiki and beg/plead Morrus to keep it when he converts. The MediaWiki is a non-starter with him (incompatibilities with user info).
- Move off-site. Likely to a MediaWiki site. I'd still recommend overhauling the sheets to be more LEB with less math to lower the barrier (but provide different means for folks to include that math if wanted).

I'm not happy with either option. But there they are.

What are the other options for character sheet tracking? Wouldn't think it would be too hard to find something out there? Or perhaps we could create something?

I've seen a few character sheet sites that allow you to import Character Builder profiles but personally not a big fan... I know we have some talented people and I have a website we could put it on, can't host right now but will be able to in a few months...

I'm reading Dragon 382 now, which is my first look at the Ardent class, and may I just say, "I told you so"?

This sidebar is slightly updated compared to the
version that appeared in the Psion debut, and replaces
that text. This definition includes a few clarifications,
and it changes how augmentable powers interact with
things like the human’s Bonus At-Will Power trait.

Yep. Revisions.

Huh. Given the choice, I'd say moving off-site is my preference. I wonder if MediaWiki has a backup/restore function....

It hasn't been far from my mind, I do have some stuff written up, and some ides for how it could all be organised in a clear way. The issue is, that I cannot edit any existing pages in the new wiki only create new ones :erm:, don't know how to get around that. But if we're going off site anyway that shouldn't be an issue. Does anyone have suggestions for a good stable site?
