Laptop CPU's - AMD Athlon, Celeron, Pentium M, or P4?

My laptop that I use at school and whenever I go home has a AMD Athlon XP-M.

Cool. Just wondering if there were any issues with AMD laptop CPU's. I haven't heard much about them but I've been happy with my desktop Athlon CPU.

But I'm also running a 15.4" hi-def widescreen monitor

Yeah, that's what I'll be getting at the very least. I'm even contemplating getting a 17" but I haven't decided yet.

AMD - Yes? No? Maybe?

Maybe. There's nothing inherently bad about AMD's laptop CPUs. They're much better laptop CPUs than Pentium 4 variants -- the Pentium 4, Celeron (no suffix), and Celeron D -- they offer equal or better performance, cheaper, and use less power. They're not as good as Pentium M variants (Pentium M, Celeron M) -- which offer about the same performance and use still less power (and by a large margin, too).

However, getting a good AMD-powered laptop from a major vendor is difficult, and build-your-own isn't really an option in the laptop space.
