Large Creature-Sized-Damage

Any suggestions on when large-creature damage becomes less of a problem?
How about a way to make it less of a problem early on.

I'd like to give a few options to my players that are large creatures, but last time I did so, the Minotaur Fighter (3.5, a-la savage species, but played in PFRPG) did way too much damage.

Suggestions?

I'd like to be able to allow the creatures, and it wouldn't be a problem except for how much damage large creatures' weapons do.

You talking about say a Greatsword doing 3d6 instead of 2d6 damage? Well that's not so much a problem by itself. But together with an insane str bonus, power attack, etc. it can amount to quite a bit of damage.

Now I'd just not allow large creatures if this was a concern to me - what's the point of playing one if you can't get the extra damage? There are plenty of medium sized creatures out there you can play instead.

Say that's true, and I don't have a problem with the huge weapons, it's just that when combined with the strength bonus, they often outshine the other characters.

I was lookinf more for around what level the damage difference isn't as big, and looking to see if anyone had figured out what it's worth in terms of LA.

I wouldn't mind making someone take levels in it to get the benefits from size, I just don't want those benefits to be given way too early, or given too late.

So, say: Str Bonus + Bigger weapons. When does that give comparable damage output to a fighter's iterative attacks (if I gave the large creature d8s and Medium BAB), or when does it start to be comparable to the Rogue's Sneak Attack?

Now that I've clarified a bit, does anyone have any suggestions?

I like the Idea, just obviously not at level 1. If I had some better Idea for the type of damage output to expect by level, it would be easier for me to turn it into a character class.
