LARP-ing going on in woods around Moscow

I just saw this story and thought it was interesting. Apparently there are LARPs going on for LOTR, Harry Potter, and Warhammer. There seem to be people from a variety of ages and occupations.

It also got me wondering - are there any other places where this seems to be as popular, say in the US, or Canada?
