The problem with the cover is that they'll have a huge typo on it. It'll have "Stormwrack" on it, and everyone knows it's how "Maelstrom" is supposed to be spelt.

I can't understand why they feel the need to dumb down titles.

"Wrack" is from the middle dutch for "shipwreck".

Thus, "Stormwrack" - something destroyed by a storm; or possibly the storm that destroys.

Indeed, Storm Wrack is almost the same as "Storm Wrak" which is Dutch for ships destroyed by sea storms. Maybe the changed it from Maelstrom because the latter sounded too much like an arcane spell devouring reality or somesuch?

Maybe "Maelstrom" is a trademark somewhere so it had to be changed.

Or maybe they just changed their minds.

I'm more disappointed that the DMG II isn't blue.

I prefer Stormwrack, myself. Evocative of 'Spiritwrack'. Maelstrom is just pedestrian, the kind of title I'd expect from someone who just saw it in his 'Word a Day' disctionary and thinks its some exotic word that no one else has heard before.

It is unfortunate that it's so close to 'Sandstorm', though, which was a rather unimaginative title.

Wrack & wreck

Stormwrack? Isn't it supposed to Stormwreck? Confused.

Being a foreginer, I had to look up "wrack". Means "destruction or ruin" according to some online dictionary I found.

Sounds appropriate to me.
