Lava damage?

Gnome

First Post
Are there any rules anywhere for how much damage a creature would take from being immersed ina pool of lava, or how hard it would be to get out? I was thinking of having a battlefield containing one or more pools of lava that either the PC or the bad guys could make use of for bull rush attempts and the like for my upcoming high-level one-shot.

If not, I'm sure I can make something up (but suggestions are always welcome). Thanks!

If I recall correctly, being immersed in lava is 20d6 damage per round

Yep, that's correct.

Lava Effects

Lava or magma deals 2d6 points of damage per round of exposure, except in the case of total immersion (such as when a character falls into the crater of an active volcano), which deals 20d6 points of damage per round.

Damage from magma continues for 1d3 rounds after exposure ceases, but this additional damage is only half of that dealt during actual contact (that is, 1d6 or 10d6 points per round).

An immunity or resistance to fire serves as an immunity to lava or magma. However, a creature immune to fire might still drown if completely immersed in lava.

EDIT: Geez, those other posts weren't there a second ago. :)

So, if a creature is pushed-in, and is able to climb out as a full-round action, then it's 20d6 damage the first round, then 10d6 damage for 1-3 more rounds? Wow. Assuming 2 rounds as the average, that's 40d6 total, for an average of 140 points of damage. Ouch!

I ran a low level adventure beneath the Cogs in Sharn which involved a number of fire mephits doing hit and runs on the party from pools of lava. Lots of fun. :)

Keep in mind it is fairly difficult to become immersed in lava. Humans do not sink in lava. Lava is liquid rock which is much denser than people.

well if i was submerged in lave i think I WOULD DIE!!!!! but thats only my thought.

Also if it didnt kill me immediately and by some miracle i survived, i would be so horribally disfigured that i would probably kill myself cause i was so ugly!!!!
