Leadership questions

So is it really true that you can only take Leadership once? (Or rather, that you only gain the benefits once?)

The Spectrum Rider

This is true. But I beleive there are some additional feats relating to leadership elsewhere. I know one allows you double followers as long as half of t hem follow the same God/Goddess you do. There is also one that allows an additional cohort that is one level lower than the initial one.

I am not sure where they are or what they are called, but I will look for them again.

Hello,

The issue is debatable. Monte Cook has stated that the Leadership feat can be taken multiple times:

If your DM goes with the stricter interpretation of the rules, as described above, you may wish to take a look at the Inspired Leader feat presented in Dynasties and Demagogues (Chris Aylott, Atlas Games). This feat boosts your Leadership score and allows you to have a second cohort.

Hope this helps,

I think Monte answered before he thought. Allowing multiple instances would be a decent house rule, but it clearly contradicts the book.

Hello,

Perhaps, but I don't believe so. He has been stating this since shortly after D&D v3.0 was released:

However, I wish they had spared a few sentences to clarify the issue once and for all in the new version of the DMG. The Leadership is fairly unique among the feats, as it does not prove a direct mechanical benefit to your PC.

Another extremely subtle change to the Leadership feat in D&D v3.5 that should be pointed out is the apparent removal of the limitation that your followers must be "commoners, experts, or warriors" (DMG v3.0, pg 46). A careful reading on the v3.5 version of the feat seems to indicate that they could be of any class. I am still unclear on this point, despite multiple readings of feat. I can't take credit for noticing this change, I found out about it here:
