League of Assassins - Concluded.

Wister grew up in extreme competition with another gnome. It is through this that he believed trickery was his best bet and went into illusion. The rival however is still out there. The rival is down on his luck and since he's kinda kept tabs on Wister, there has got to be a reason why Wister is staying in this town for sometime and not moving on. He's come to investigate and maybe swindle or replace the orignal stuff with fake replicas.

Sokki at 20th level, he could always be bumped up if needed. He is not a front line person, he prefers distance fighting, which reflects why he has low ac. He also attacks from invisibility or from hiding.

His favorite tactic is to use improved invisibility and nondetection, then fire off a few flesh to stone. His trademark is leaving stone bodies with disintegrated heads (victims).

Sokki uses change self liberally to throw off accurate descriptions of him.

Amar is a ruthless assassin. He doesn't hide much but is very stealthy and well balanced. Amar is famous for (but not widely known it was him) walking across a tightrope into a castle and killing off a Prince. When the alarms went, the guards reported seeing someone running on air (tight silk rope).

He doesn't hoard wealth, what he does have he uses to buy information. Few dare lie to Amar, they know fully that Amar could ruin their reputation with but a word, and their lives with but a couple of strike.

edit: Silvermoon- the last 3 npcs are created with an npc generator and equipment generator, with some changes. I didn't check them for accuracy and didn't add in the equipment to their stats. I did however give you a blurb of what they are known for, so I hope that helps picture the npc's in your head. Hope this helps fill out the leaders of the ILA. if they are too low, we could bump them into epic levels. :)

Thanks again Kyramus. Your contributions to this module have been excellent. I hope that you have been enjoying the Story Hour.

The characters being too low isn't a problem, they may actually be too high, as the highest level members of the Silver Moon are 11th.

I like the Namfoodle character, but Wister had truly tried the patience of the players, and I'm not sure how they'd take another gnome. Then again, I've now established that one of the ILA leaders is only around 3' tall, so could be a gnome (All five leaders spoke at the Opening Ceremonies, although each was sufficiently disguised so as to have not shown their true identities. These details will be in Chapter 37 of the Story Hour, which will probably be posted by this weekend).

Either Sokki or Amar would work well as the top ILA leader, who I have now established is a male human. The fifth member was shown to be around 8-feet tall, so probably wasn't one of these unless he had been magically enlarged, which is possible.

It is also possible that there are really 6 leaders rather than 5, and that the top leader makes sure that he is NEVER seen by anyone other than his top associates.

Skimmed through the story thread. cool stuff.
When you get a chance sit back and enjoy the whole thing. I just posted Chapter 36, with only one more chapter to go to be fully caught up. Readers of this Plots & Places thread can then start to guess who the four ILA targets are (I'll give you a hint - 2 are auction guests, 1 is a Silver Moon Adventurer, and 1 is another characters that has appeared prominently in the story thus far).

We're not playing this Sunday due to Easter, however I may throw together a pick-up game some time in the next few days. I had rolled at the end of the last game that Cassie's owl recognized an assassin present (specifically, one of the ones from the Dunn assassination team) at the ceremony. Cassie and Lono's characters are currently separated from the others and both players live very close where I do, so the three of us could easily get together some time to play.

Later Edit: I figure it will be a very Buffy-esque cemetery melee, with Cassie, Lono & the NPC Darrius vs. the Assassin, Monk and Cleric of Loviatar. The three enemies are higher in level, but the good guys are all multi-classed, with Cassie and Lono also having the advantage of infravision and the invisible owl familiar. I also figure that no other assassin groups will interfere, supporting the idea of the the competition killing each other. The ILA leaders also would not recognize any of these six, as none of them are with any ILA member guilds.

The next game with the whole group should be very interesting, as they will have to piece together the various clues given at the opening ceremonies (at least one of which is almost guaranteed to lead them in the wrong direction if the assume the obvious).

Hmmm a hidden top ILA leader?????

I like that idea. Better yet, the ILA leaders work for this guy. He isn't an ILA leader but he has all of them on his payroll by various means. It could be simple greed and he pays them.

Though I like the other method better. The hidden figure has something on each of the ILA leaders and they are blackmailed into working for him. He pays them but their loyalty is based on the blackmail material he has on them.

The hidden figure is Saazzk (Sa-a-zzik) a yuan-ti psion/wizard of high rank.

I'll have to be at home and go through the books. Saazzk is an epic level character.

Motivation: slow and deliberate infiltration of the government at large, using the ILA to dispatch people and have his chosen political people take their place.

Your normal megalomaniac. He wants to gain rulership over the land. Then begin plotting for the domination of the world. one country at a time. and having the ILA in your pocket just makes it all the more easier.

The pick-up game went well, but very different than I had expected. It will probably work out to two Story Hour chapters, the first of which will be up by tonight.

The group choose not to fight the trio in the cemetery, waiting until they were back in the city. The players then each got their other two characters as well. They caught two of the three people they were after, following a rather interesting battle on multiple rooftops. The questioning of these prisoners at the next game will also reveal a rather interesting plot twist, when they tell the group that their primary objective in the city was to PREVENT the Queen from being assassinated.

Kyramus, I've figured out a way to work Namfoodle into the story. He has arrived in the city with a small group of gnomes. These gnomes are the leader, spouse and heir of a distant gnomish Kingdom named Kalephornyah. This leader, Knevadah, is a 7th level rogue, and Namfoodle was his teacher and mentor. Namfoodle has been given the official title of Lord Chamberlain.

Over the weekend I also found a large plastic scorpion at a yard sale. At 25mm scale it would be around 75 feet long. I plan to use this as a summoned mount for the Pharoah to ride on.

During the game the Jawlt Army was preoccupied at the east gates of the city, and Hargash and 13 of his followers arrived via the southwest gate. The Silver Moon Adventurers will be informed of this in the AM (plus given info on six other groups who have come to he city that they have not met yet, including the abovementioned gnomes).

Last night the two players brainstormed about the clues to the target clue locations, guessing two right and two wrong, which is about what I had expected. I am personally hoping that the group determines the identity of no more than three targets, in order to keep them guessing and on edge.

Lord Chamberlain..... lol. that would definitely fit a rogue.

About the queen. Let it be multiple hit contracts. Can you imagine how bad that would be if an assassin succeeds, and another one wants to take the credit so he goes hunting for the assasin that did it so that he can claim it. hehehehe

The whole Queen assassination sub-plot has nothing to do with the ILA (unless she is also one of their targets as well, which is why Darlene & her two companions went to the ceremony). It is the mentally unstable assassin Lady Annette of Kaloon who is out to off the Queen, and let the ILA take the blame. Annette and Darlene both work for Pamela, the head Priestess of the Church of Loviatar. Pamela wants the Queen to remain alive, so she sent Darlene to stop Annette but make sure that Annette also doesn't get caught by Kindor or the Silver Moon.

We'll be at the Bidder's Dinner soon, and the group will be on-edge enough since they have mistakenly concluded that the dinner is an ILA clue location (although the target that will be identified at dawn will be present- so it actually could be).
