Theroc, if you don't have access to most of this stuff, you might consider making a character who's lived cut off from society all his life and doesn't know any more about this stuff than you do... Maybe you've spent most of your life shipwrecked on a desert island and were just recently brought back to civilization, or you were a slave somewhere and just recently rescued. (Actually, if you're from Cyre, that's a pretty good background... "Thanks so much for rescuing me off that island and dropping me in Sharn! Too bad you couldn't take me all the way to Cyre, but I can make my own way from here. I've been so looking forward to getting home again! ... Wait, WHAT?")

I figured on making a character fairly ignorant of typical Eberron ways, but needed to know a bit about regions and such to know what things even the most reclusive person would know. Example: The Day of Mourning sounds to have affected the entire world, so depending on it's nature, it may have been some strange occurance for him/her too. Will try to look up regions a bit and see if anything fits.

The wiki should have it. But in a nutshell:
- Last War (any character from Khorvaire (the default area) would know and be affected by this unless from a very long lived race): The old king of the Galifar Empire died; afterwards, his children warred over who should become king/queen in violation of how it was previously done. This lasted almost 100 yrs, with every major nation (Aundair, Cyre, Breland, Thrane, and Karrnath) almost allying with every other nation and betraying them, ending only because of the Day of Mourning.
- Day of Mourning (anyone who has been in Khorvaire in the last 4 years knows about this): For years ago, Cyre was destroyed. One day, while armies were fighting, a magical storm overtook the entire country, stopping just at its borders. Anyone inside was killed. It is now a place of twisted magic and death where healing is muted, the dead continue to fight the same battles, and magic has taken on a life of its own literally.
Because no one has any idea who or what caused the Day of Mourning, everyone suspects it could happen again. Thus, the Last War ended because of the shock and fear of it. It still has political and economic repercussions (i.e., House Cannith is fractured because of it).

As for the Houses: You can be a member or sanctioned by a house if you are not of the Mark-bearing race, but only members of the Mark-bearing race can gain the mark (Except for PCs, who are expressly different. But it is considered very rare). So developing a mark could be dangerous either physically (they think you're aberrant and want to kill you) or politically (they are going to study you; involve you in devious plans, etc.). All ripe for story opportunities, but be aware of them. As an example, my half-orc artificer has the Cannith mark for various reasons; this has caused him to be hunted by Cannith (some want to kill him).

Hopefully he sees this and can post his findings, lol.

I haven't decided on anything in particular, but am looking for something besides a defender(as I just made a Dragonborn Warden on Living 4th, I'd like to make something different here)

Hmmm..... well, if I remove the 2 barbarians from the mix, a striker wouldn't be a bad option as well, or a controller (there's only 3 approved, and 2 on 1 adventure together)

Hmmm.... I was reviewing the Requesting approval PC's and saw E13's barb there with only 1 approval. Need 1 more judge to look at him...

http://www.enworld.org/wiki/index.php/LEB:PC:Gurdan_Earthshield_(nerdytenor) also only has 1 approval. I'll work on him. That's 1 more defender as well.

& Lo-Kag hasn't been approved, but is adventuring so I added him as well. One things Leaders aren't in demand

I'll update the above.

From the census sheet you've posted, Renau, it appears that the proposed characters(the complete characters page thing doesn't work)[Or is that what you wanted me to ignore?] have a distinct lack of controllers, followed by defenders, with leaders and strikers in about equal measure.

So, looks like I'm looking at a controller. Between PHB and PHB 2, three controllers come to mind. Druid, Invoker and Wizard. There are zero druids, one invoker and two wizards. So, I'll likely be deciding between druid and Invoker, leaning towards invoker simply because if I am correct, druids have some important fluff roles in Eberron as some gate defenders or something, while I know of no such thing for Invokers, and I could possibly have my character not even know the source for his/her powers.

Sorry about that, yeah I meant ignore the proposed character title. This should capture everyone in either the Approved characters or who are unapproved, but are adventuring.

If it makes any sort of difference there's a second invoker waiting in the approval queue.

Which PC is that? I didn't see anyone else in the awaiting approval wiki, except like 3 swordmages.

Ah, I missed Mal's PC as he doesn't have any of the tags with the sheet (i.e. Awaiting Approval/Approved Character) so he doesn't show up in the summary.

I've corrected this. I noticed Lo-Kag had the same issue.

Updated the Census
