Yes, I know. I have a power that I want to use for a warlord, but it requires a heavy thrown weapon to use it. I was hoping that I could use the shield as the heavy thown weapon.

You can't.

Yeah it's not technically a heavy thrown weapon (it's not a weapon at all) so it can't be used to deliver at-will powers or other powers for that matter. No Captain America unfortunately.
