Hello, Eberron!

I finally started reading the 4E Eberron books, my first real exposure to the setting. Wow - what a huge difference in quality from FR! (Even old FR - sorry, never been a fan.) Reading the scattered articles in Dragon and Dungeon, I always bounced off the names full of apostrophes and mysterious "house this" and "house that" - but it all works so much better when you can see how all these elements fit together! Some parts of the setting remind me of my beloved 7th Sea.

Unfortunately I don't have much free time now, but I may just have to join in over here in a couple of months once I free up some time. And I've already got a few adventure ideas from reading the campaign guide, not that I have time to run yet another one...

So hows everyone's real life beating them up this month? I've seen 16 hour workdays and new babies so far, and am personally dealing with a brand spankin new cancer diagnosis. So I'm just hoping everyone else is holding together ok.

I also started playing DDO unlimited, the free Eberron based MMO. Its using 3.5 rules but is ok as far as sticking to the core theme as much as it can. The tank still doesn't really exist as hate generation is still iffy.

Hey yeah, I just started playing DDO as well and have been pleasantly surprised. It's certainly different than PnP but still feels like D&D to me. And the gameplay is nicely "action game" feeling for an MMO.

Which server are you on? I've been playing on Sarlona.

A couple of questions for you fine folks, if you don't mind. . .

I have no experience with 4th edition parties made up of PC of varying levels. It seems like most of Living Eberon is 4th level and up. Do you see this as problematic for newly entering characters?

Are the Dragonmarked Houses being heavily used by active PCs? Are any being used more than others?

Are any roles in more demand than others?

Well most are 4th level beacause that is what the max starting level was set at. So if you hurry you shouldn't be far behind everyone else! And iven if it talkes a little bit the gap should be less evadant after a few levels.
