Legions of Hell - Anyone using it?

I am planning to use Legions of Hell in the very near future, in particular the Akop. We'll see if the PCs can undo Mammon's curse and save an entire race (that should be worth beaucoup de experience).

As for other D20 books, Touched by the Gods (Atlas Games) has been the main inspiration for my current campaign. I have actually run The Last Dance (Atlas), Siege of Durgam's Folly (Necromancer Games), and Of Sound Mind (Fiery Dragon). I plan to run The Ebon Mirror (Atlas; why isn't this adventure in the reviews database yet? It's so cool!) and Hell in Freeport (Green Ronin). The only WotC adventure I've run is Heart Nightfang Spire, which I didn't think was that great. The d20 products are really kicking WotC's butt as far as ideas go (if not in presentation) as far as I'm concerned.

Well i've used just a bit of it in my own setting. My players's Psychic Warrior is in Hell at the moment (long story) and he has run into (heh) a Chamagon and a trio of Striga. Both were tough fights, but in interfering with the Striga, he has managed to piss off Hadriel, so she'll make her wrath apparent soon enough. mwahahahhaahhaha...

Its always tricky using outsiders and such creatures as Dragons, because they really are just more powerful and dangerous than their CR's indicate. Not specifially Green Ronin's stuff, but just those types of creatures in general.

I totally agree 7th. WotC "adventure path" stuff might be nice for some, but for me, I perfer stuff that's off the beaten path. Ebon Mirror, Beyond the Veil, Demons and Devils (cannot WAIT for Tomb of Abysthor!), to name a few are just some of the ones I enjoy

Then of course there are the legendary ones. Demon God's Fane, Rappen Athuk. :) These are one to fear...Plus I cannot wait for Necropolis! Sand, dust and Death! ;)

I've never used Legions of Hell in my games. I picked it up because of the praise it recievs, and it does seem to be a good book. Hoever, it just never seemed to fit when I was running.

Well, I don't use Legions of Hell in my campaing at moment. However, one where I play my Dm uses it a lot. Together with Hell in Freeport. *Creeps*

Interesting enemies, and CR:s are mostly amazingly right.

Sorry to derail this thread, but I'm just shocked at the size of the stack of stuff I a) don't use and b) have no immediate plans to use any time soon.

Unfortunately, I think that's the case with a lot of non-core products. I'm guilty of it, too. It seems the community has a lot of "armchair quarterbacks" and very few field-tested veterans when it comes to alternative materials. That's why I think people with first-hand experience have such valuable advice.

Still, one of the strengths of Legions of Hell, and many other supplements, is the ideas contained within, not necessarily the details. So in that respect, I guess we all get some use out of game materials, even if we don't know it.

What level was the Psychic Warrior? Can you give a brief description of the encounters? Particularly with the Striga, I'm curious to know the setup and how it played out.

BTW, I feel sorry for him. You definitely don't want to be on Hadriel's bad side.

Nice. That definitely would be an unsettling combination. *Creeps* is the reaction I'm aiming for, so it's good to hear you say that. ;)

What, specifically, have you encountered? Can you share some details?

I haved used Legions heavily. I had a whole plot that revolved around Balan and his huntsman. I had my PCs questing for this horn. What they didn't know was this was the horn of Balan's huntsmen, locked up by demonic foes. Although they killed lots of demons (could really have used Armies of the Abyss!), they unwittingly aided Hell and the horn was used to summon Balan. They aftereffects of that are still being felt in my world.
