Oddly enough, there are no dire death traps warding these spellbooks. (ooc: the search DC to find them was 20, and that appears to have been enough protection to satisfy the old coot.) There are 500 books in the library. It will take the party, say, four hours to do a thorough search of the place, after which time you find the following:
There are 12 books written in the Duergar tongue, 4 are in Dwarven, 2 in Elven, only 1 in Common. the rest are in Undercommon, Drow, or Draconic. Most deal with magical theory or history. 40-50 concern Underdark politics, primarily Drow Elf politics.
It is obvious that there is knowledge to be gained here, the only issues are the sheer size of the library (which makes transportation of the library impractical if not impossible), and the time required to gain the knowledge from the tomes.
