"Lesser Known" PC and Video Games?

UFO Aftermath

A brief jump OT.

For those who liked X-Com, UFO Aftermath is out, and a darn good game. It's basically the same, except that it is real-time with pauses a'la Baldur's Gate, and would make an excellent d20 game.

In Aftermath the humans lost the war, and virtually all large life forms were killed. You start with one survivor who enters an old x-com base and gathers followers and weapons to fight back.

Much of the game has been simplified, but it's pretty darn fun and recaptures the feel of the original nicely.

Now I have this twisted d20 world of Duke Nukem (8-bit graphic, not the nukem of today..) trapped in a demonic capitalism where the coporations rise with Tetris blocks and nothing makes sense though they claim straight line patterns do the trick. (Bullcrap!)

The horror... The horror..

The Realms of Arkania trilogy is probably the best series of CRPG's I have ever seen. There were three games: Blade of Destiny, Star Trail, and Shadow Over Riva.

They were based on Das Schwarze Auge (the German answer to D&D), which incidentally just recently became available in English, translated as The Dark Eye. It has a wonderful game world, a fairly low-magic setting, and an incredible amount of character customization options. Anyone looking for something new should check it out.
