Let people know when a thread is moved - How?

and previous confusing reads myself, is there any way to have the board automatically let the reader know at what point a thread was moved from one Forum to another?

I'm sure I and the other poster are not the only ones who have been confused by a thread starting in one place, being moved to another, and it not being obvious as to when exactly that happened.

When I move a thread, I generally leave a redirect and also say on the thread that I moved it.

(Or did you mean something else?)

It builds mental agility. :D

I moved it and left a re-direct in General Discussion. I usually leave a little "moved to rules" in the message; I forgot that time.

Of more concern to me is the disaster that hapens when we move LARGE threads. I moved the photo thread to the archive last night. It timed out. I believe that the whole thread made it to the archive - although the indexing may be messed up, as the forum summary page doesn't list the latest post - but it mangled the original thread. It stripped ouf hundreds of posts; this same thing happened to Edena of Neith's IR thread a few months back. It's very frustrating, as the intent of copying it was to leave the original one intact. Sigh.

Thoughts?

Don't put the thread in harm's way! Rather, copy it over instead of moving it (or, if that's risky, too, make a copy of the thread in the forum it's in and then move that copy). Or chop it up into smaller threads that you then recombine in the archive (again, with a copy so you're on the safe side).

In the moderator drop down list at the bottom of a thread, select "Edit Thread" or something, in betwean "Delete Thread" and "Move thread".

It will looks something like this in one of the fields, describing all actions with date and time:
Moved (with redirect) to 'Övriga diskussioner' by Psionicist on 2002-03-19 23:55.

He's right. I think it will show only the last such action (e.g., moving, closing, etc.), though - but I'm not sure...
