D&D General Let's list/complain about things we don't like

I like having stuff like that as options. I ran Egyptian game and Loxodons, Giff etc make a lot of sense.

If the DMs put effort in for those races cool. Not a fan of 30-40 races pick whatever and only 6 get much effort.

Curated list makes things more appealing eg BG3 and Gith.
I like options as well. But I dislike that many players are of the opinion that every playable species is valid in every campaign. I'm starting a Greyhawk campaign in January, and one of my players is already keen on playing a Fairy. I don't like PC species that can naturally fly. This isn't the place to debate my preference, I just don't like it as a DM. So I get to be the jerk who says no.

Lack of classes is the thing I dislike the most. Pathfinder 2e has all sorts of fun things like the Magus, Kineticist, and more. While in DnD, you have subclasses which don't provide nearly the variety of play.

Battlemaster and purple dragon knight don't come close to warlord for a support focused martial.

5e's dozens of gish subclasses all fail to be even close to the fun of the 3.5e duskblade, 4e swordmage, and pathfinder magus.

I don't allow at will flyers in. Aasimar and Dragonborn 2024 are fine.

Not much in 2024 I don't like. Did not like Dragonborn or Tieflings much in 2014 phb. That was purely mechanics though the Mordenkainens and Fizbans ones were fine.

Beyond nitpick specific to 5E (high power, hp bloat etc).

It's not the biggest deal, just one of my pet peeves, but I dislike it when everyone in the group wants to play a rare species. If the world is half humans, quarter dwarves, and most of the rest elves and halflings, then it breaks my immersion when the party that met in a tavern consists of a plasmoid, a tortle, a dhampir, and a warforged.

Usually I play a human, elf or half-elf to balance things out because I know the rest of my group is going to go for rarer, gimmicky, or homebrew species. Sometimes I want to play the gimmicky species or use a homebrew, but I know it won't feel special in my group, so I end up saving that for oneshots. I want to feel special too, dangit!

I'm going to be dming a game soon and I'm rather excited that one of my players actually chose to play a human, and another an elf. Finding joy in the little things, I guess lol.
