Hi all.

I thought that we could make a list of cool looking items, not necceseraly their magical properties but more about their look or unique name, each will be able to post three items so think carefully.

Here are mine:

Bullheaded Mace.
Staff of Light.
Cloak of Feathers

I just want a return of some classics, such as Helm of Brilliance, Crown/Orb/Sceptre of Might, Flametongue, Frostbrand etc (I know they made an attempt with Mordenkainen's thingy, which was a decent book, but fell short a bit, for me).

The Eye of Seeing. A medallion/armband/etc. that has an eye engraved/enamelled/etc. on it that allows the wearer to see in the dark/True See/etc.

Rod of Wonder
Lesser Rod of Wonder
Greater Rod of Wonder

What is the "Rod" of Wonder which you speak? Truly getting back to the roots of the game it's a WAND of Wonder. :p

Deck of Many Things

Bag of Beans

Satchel of Rabid Ferrets

Pouch of Puss Toads

Bacon of Hope

LoL, yeah, because I've been playing a game I hate for 32 years. What I like is random, goofy magic items in places which I've stated many many times. IoW, that's where I like chaotic randomness, not in the base system math, not in class imbalance but let magic items instead of being a requirement be either useful or just an outlet for the strange as the DM and players decide. Magic items essentially become a module where you add the silly to sublime that fits the game you want.

That, and in some module design which is why I run a number of 1E modules converted to 4E. I pull back on the random death traps but still leave the core elements there because they're fun without hosing any character/class inherently.

And what's wrong with the Bag of Beans? It's a classic.

I had a Rod of Lordly Might once and have to admit, I wasn't all that enamored with it. It was a bit of a Swiss Army Knife but wish they'd done more with it.
