When the PH(B) launches, some, basic, magic items will be added to 5B. All of the above is according to Mearls from various podcasts or twitter posts. Thaumaturge.

L Lord Blackstone First Post Aug 3, 2014 #23 Yeah.. IMO.. Magic Items really need to be in the DMG. I am a DM that makes players figure out their items on their own or use a wizard to Identify them.. Having them in the Players Handbook took that fun out of it for me.
