....Facinating...

Did WotC realize they had made a power-gamers wet dream when they created this class?
I wouldn't call it that. It is highly questionable whether the Archivist is actually better than a Cloistered Cleric in most cases (Cloistered Cleric has more skill points, Bardic Knowledge, three domains, free access to all the spells on the cleric list, and turn undead so they can use Divine feats).

...but power gamers (like me!) love looking for the appropriate combos, and maximizing them. With an archivist, you find those two or three spells to twink out, and you're good to go.

I like the flexibility, spell wise, of the archivist, but better than a Cleric? Thats a massive stretch. Poor bab, no turn undead, no domains, no martial weapons, no shields, no heavy armor? thats a lot of hits compared to a cleric.

I love the flavor of Dark Knowledge, for the Daniel Jackson character, though, and I like the flavor of the class as a whole.

I usually just let them deal with the poison. I'm a bad healer, aren't I :heh:

So, not a party player.

Your fighters are the ones most likely to suffer from poison and they are the meat shields between you and the monsters. If you want to make them unusable and dead then bad healer.
