Lets talk GAME not PHILOSOPHY!

A fair point, and I agree that it would be nice to see more homebrewing going on. I think one reason that there isn't as much as under 3.x is that the OGL really encouraged us gamers at home to get all dreamy-eyed about publishing our stuff, while the GSL is depressingly unreasonable.

I notice that you have been registered since January 2007 yet have only started three threads there yourself. :) Start a trend!;)

just think would it kill you to post once in usefull material for every3 posts you argue about the size of a pixies wings?

I hope its not that the switch to 4th has curtailled creativity.
Well, I've had a couple of recent 4e actual play threads, here and here.

You might find some useful ideas there, if you're looking for creative spellcasting, non-combat encounters or techniques for running an exploration scenario.

DannyAlcatraz can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the EN World TOS states that you keep ownership of your content.
I don't usually look at ToS agreements- they don't usually pop up in music- but I'd say that 1) T-foot's disclaimer has full effect, 2) Umbran's probably right about ENWorld's policy, and 3) my advice to any Mod on a board whose ToS doesn't guarantee creator rights when they see something like T-foot's disclaimer is to remove the post. I'm not sure a ToS that didn't protect creators' rights would survive a legal challenge.

. . . but look at this right now there are 342 people in general discusion and 42 peeps in the 4e home brew section
Not everyone here plays 4e, and of those who do some may not be interested in home brew material.

"General RPG Discussion" means exatly that.

And just because we're not sharing our homebrew materials here doesn't mean we're not sharing them somewhere; I created many house rules and new items for Flashing Blades, which I share with the Yahoo group for the game; posting them here would be a waste of time as very few on this site know FB and even fewer actually play it.

If you want to change the discussion, change it by talking about something else rather than expecting others to change what they're talking about.

If your looking for 4e stuff, I have a link in my sig, though its stuff a year or three old (it's a PDF document hosted on scribd (and I've got some 3.5 stuff on there as well).

Like others have noted though, usually the game specific threads/discussions tend to be in their edition specific forum. Its a shame though that they don't seem to get as much traffic as general does.

Sometimes, its a matter of timing. Back in 2007-08, I was working on some feats for alternative body materials for Warforged. Things like Glassteel. But then 4Ed hit and I didn't feel the need to post it while the new game was in its infancy.

Now, I can't find my notes! I know they're around here SOMEwhere.

Does it matter that Thunderfoot is merely following the original creator's directive--that it's simply saying "Don't profit from my work"?

Don't hate the [-]player[/-] philosophizer; hate the game.

Its why I come here hoping for a spell or magic item or feat I can yoink.

Here's a cool little house rule for 4E Magic Missiles that we've been using...

As per the errata-ed version, Magic Missile still does fixed damage. However, the damage does NOT increase as you increase in level -- it stays at 2 + Int Force damage. Instead, the action it takes to cast Magic Missile changes: It starts as a Standard action at the Heroic Tier, it becomes a Move action to cast at Paragon Tier, and a Minor action at Epic.

This allows the damage to scale better and potentially allows the caster to hit multiple targets at higher levels, but at the expense of using multiple actions for the extra damage and targets.

It also allows the Wizard to use Magic Missile in conjunction with other spells... By using his Standard action to cast a a Daily or Encounter power, and then adding in a little extra bonus Magic Missile damage with a Move action or Minor action.

The change also has the advantage of keeping the usefulness of the handful of feats, powers, and magic items that still enhance Magic Missile.
