Level Adjustment for being a Construct

That's actually not too bad. I'm guessing they're not immune to mind affecting effects, since they are kinda living, and do have intelligence. Having a con score is a pretty big bonus... hrm.

So what's their level adjustment? Do they have any other special abilities?

It's a bit hard to tell from the character writeup what other abilities there are This is extrapolated from the article on the Lord of Blades and a few things I've heard here and the WotC boards. What I know is that a warforged has a +0 Level Adjustment - that's pretty much the reason the Living Construct subtype has been created.

A few other things - they're subject to nonlethal damage and critical hits, apparently not immune to mind-affecting effects, death and necromantic effects, ability damage and ability drain. They do receive a bit of healing from magical healing (I think 1/2).

They propably get a bonus to Con or Str. They are Reserved, giving a -5 penalty to social skills. I think they're usually lawful.

I remember that Warforged cannot wear armor - but at first level, they can take a feat to duplicate armor. The Lord of Plates has Adamantine Body, which I think is the equivalent to adamantine full plate, complete with DR 2/-.

Edit - I kind of sound like I want to sell the Warforged. :p

The issue of Dragon is #318. Here are the Living Construct details:

* has a Con score
* normal vision only (no darkvision, etc.)
* is affected by spells that target living creatures and constructs
* can be 'healed' by both cure and repair spells, but healing spells only cure half
* cannot heal damage naturally
* not immune to mind-affecting stuff
* immune to poison, sleep, paralysis, disease, nausea, and energy drain
* not immune to necromancy or death affects
* can go below 0 hp like normal characters, although it becomes 'inert' instead of 'dying' and doesn't continue to lose hp
* subject to critical hits, nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain
* does not eat, sleep, or breathe, but can still use potions
* immune to fatigue and exhaustion (hmm, go warforged barbarians!)
* can be raised or resurrected

Warforged as a race also get +2 Con, -2 Wis, -2 Cha, +2 armor bonus (and can't wear armor, but can take feats that improve armor bonus), Light Fortification (as the armor special ability), and a 1d4 slam attack.
