What level would people make a spell that made the target forget all of his spells for the day that are gained from a high stat? (ie bonus spells)'

Lets say.. medium range, will negates.

Thanks for the suggestion wycen ;) any others? I would prefer to have several different ones to play with if at all possible!

Er, I'd say more like 6th or 7th. Rary's m. e. doesn't actually give you more spells, it lets you trade levels around (you sacrifice RME to keep another spell or spells you otherwise have burnt).

Just bonus spells?

I'd say 4th level.
Probably a bit on the high side (feeblemind is 5th and much nastier), but messing around with other's spells should be difficult.

You might get away with 3rd level, or even second (compare with Touch of Idiocy), if there aren't any abusive combos.

Geoff.

It'll take out way more spells than enervation if you've got good stats. Against a high-level caster (figure stat starts at 18, +4 for levels, +6 enhancement item, +3 or so inherent bonus = stat around 30-31; that grants a lot of bonus slots) it's horrendous. Not so much against a lower-stat caster, sure, but...

Still, on reflection, it's inferior to feeblemind, so...

I was going to say you were all out of your mind saying 4th level. Then I looked at Feeblemind. Gah. Oh my god.

Does the target decide which spells to forget? There's no way to differentiate a slot gained from a high ability score from any other.

The mechanic is a little wiggy - I think you'd be better off draining the ability score. But Feeblemind is definitely the benchmark to use.

well since feeblemind doesnt make you forget spells it doesnt matter ;)

I was just wondering what level people would put a spell that does cause such forgetting.

Power level wise 4th probably isnt a horrible place to put it, but the question is, is it too strong to be a spell at all?
