Level Up magazine is here!

Rechan, thanks for the feedback. You will definitely see some of your suggestions implemented in future issues.

I'd also like to hear what kinds of articles you and other readers would like to see in Level Up. What types of articles are the most useful to you as a DM and/or player?

Better reviews! ;)

Aside from that, interesting organizations with plot hooks, cool monsters with flavorful ecologies.

I also think it would be nice with an ongoing series of articles developing a PoL world (or rather, part thereof). But maybe LU needs to be monthly before that works well.

Totally, that guy we have now is a complete hack. :p

Monsters we got, but organizations and guilds would be a great theme for an article. I'd definitely be open to submissions on that subject.

Great idea, but I agree, a PoL series would be better served by a monthly format.

Strange as it may sound, but I do miss all the gamer-specific advertising from the old Dragon magazine. Sword vendors, people selling hand-crafted dice bags, etc. Announcements of upcoming cons or events of interest to gamers would also help in creating community.

Another big feature of the old Dragon magazine were the comics. I loved Nodwick and KotDT. In fact, I didn't always read all the articles in the magazine, but I always read the comic section without fail.

The occasional insert was also cool. Playable maps or cardboard token cutouts.

Heh, I was flipping through my old Dragons a few days ago, and I thought the same thing. I'd love to put small ads in the magazine for the kind of things you mentioned above. As the magazine grows, that could certainly be a possibility.

Yup, we're looking at adding comics to LU. Stay tuned for more info on that.

Absolutely, and we do have some ideas in that vein for future issues.

I would enjoy articles about medieval life: tourneys, markets and such, linking history to gaming (like the thread by the Gallo-something, the guy who wrote Codex Martialis).
Also, I appreciate that you're supporting the local shop. I'll pick this up there when I see it.
Cheers

One thing that I like which I don't see a lot of, are articles for a certain PC build/class that's thematically appropriate. For instance, a few powers (for each tier) and a paragon path for a class that focuses on, say, making/commanding swarms. (Not the actual monster, but powers that simulate it). The necromancy article in Dungeon was a good example. The weapon-focused Paragon paths are a good start.

As a DM, what I want is more fantastic/normal terrain features. Something like "This statue provides a bonus to +1 to defenses when you're adjacent to it".

Additionally, some interesting encounter set pieces. Like "This room is a giant clockwork device. Here's how the rules work." It doesn't have to be an Encounter (with monsters all ready in it), just a room with its cool features.
