Levels 1-10: How much damage does a character gain? (heavy math)

It was interesting to see how damage does scale in 4e.

It scales similarly in 3e-- the big difference in 4e is that through powers, "fighters" are shifted onto the same scaling track as "wizards." (And wizards, by being depowered, shifted closer to the fighters.)

Damage for wizards in 3e scales extremely reliably and predictably-- 1d6 per caster level. ;) They just can't keep up that pace all day, so they have a quick drop off. The fighter is outpaced quickly, but has no limit to hit daily damage output (other than, obviously, hit points, which everybody has to live with).

4e damage output is much more predictable and steady for all classes.
