• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

Life-changing steps ...

Courage is not the absence of fear, its the willingness to stand to despite your fear, and it looks like you've got tons of it--which puts you well on your way. Fortune favours the daring, and by the sounds of your post you've got the right attitude, and I've no doubt you'll do just fine.

Sincere best wishes on your endeavour, Dakkareth.

Most everybody has gotten the basics, really. The only thing I'll add: There is very little as far as choices you can make than can never be fixed later. Trying to remember that has made me a little more brave when I need to be.

Thanks for all the good wishes and the advise, everybody :).

I'm now posting from a public terminal of the university library on the first day I'm really here. My housing issues have been cleared up - I'll be staying with a friend of my grand-grand-aunt (or something like that) for the rest of this month and from next month on I have a place in a students' home (small and sharing kitchen/showers/etc, but very central and from what I've heard a nice place to be). The next step is to get technical stuff with my bank account fixed, then find out what's to know and do about all the courses and stuff that will start on the 17th. And get in contact with the musical groups and of course the local roleplaying scene. :)

That's the plan anyway. As long as I don't stay holed up in that cozy little room ... nah, not this time! We'll see how it works out ... ;)

I hope so. What I've seen so far looks very nice :). And if that's an offer, well, getting shown around the city by one 'in the know' is about the best thing that can happen to a newcomer, eh? Sure thing ... ;)
