LightPhoenix rants about work...

So as of right now I'm a Sales Associate at Sears, in electronics. Not a particularly difficult job, except that my feet always ache at the end of the day.

Today though, I had this woman come in with her daughter-in-law and her grandson. Now, I'm talking with them, and the daughter-in-law must have used the word "gay" at least five times in a derogatory way, and I really just wanted to slap her silly. I know not everyone has the same beliefs as I do, nor was everyone fortunate enough to be brought up by parents who strongly believed in tolerance, if not acceptance. However, the fact that "gay" has come to be a derogatory word, let alone one that can be applied to TV stands, just disgusts me.

Luckily I showed some restraint, and took great pleasure in the fact that her kid was screaming at the top of his lungs from the moment they walked in the department.

Yeah, I find that kind of annoying too. However, you can comfort yourself somewhat with two things:

1)If someone's using it to describe a TV stand, there's hardly any connection between how they're using it and what it actually means.

2)The person is a mouth-breathing hick retard, and you can take a certain smug satisfaction in knowing that you aren't as stupid as she is.

This really makes me mad, as well. I'm in high school, and it is used so much that I have to walk away some times, to keep myself from screaming. That, or I just mock them saying, 'Yeah, that chair really likes other male chairs...'

Yeah! When has a tv stand ever been happy anyway?

Being angry because "gay" is used as a derogatory term is just about as silly as getting upset because "gay" now means "homosexual" rather than "happy." The various uses of the words have evolved.
