Sadly, for some this may be the closest to family some folks have. I know I talk to about six or seven people regularly here each week but I haven't spoken but once to my brother (and that was X-mas) in the past year or so. Crazy world we live in.

I know that at least one member of these boards met his wife through the net (though not via these boards AFAIK). So sometimes net friends really do become family.

Although I first met Denise (my wife) in passing at a night club we both frequented, it wasn't until a year and a half later that I REALLY met her... all courtesy of the local BBS scene (back in the days before we had things like HTML message boards).

What about Hong? See, if it's an asian family, I know where hong fits in..... He'd have to be the acerbic uncle that yells at everyone in public (especially after losing at mah jong), but sneaks kids candy when there parent's aren't looking.

Hong's asian mafia. I heard it from a friend of a relative who golfs with his second cousin twice removed.

Sure they talk about the gay uncle.... usually along the lines of, "well he just hasn't found the right girl," or "he's so handsome, we don't get it." "he had a girl friend in highschool?"

Then in August of 2002, i met Randy. We just got engaged 1 month before our 6 month anniversary (which is August 21st).

Well, if his name is Randy, he's quite the catch. (In case you can't guess, my real name is Randy )

And I met my wife in August. Not August 2002 -- it was 1983. And not Aug. 21st -- it was the 28th. But we're still together, so you've got some good mojo working for you there. And we got married in August as well, on the 17th, in 1985.
