Limitations of Teleport

Good post, but I'm wondering:
Why should a DM be worried if he denies the players a tactic that severely impacts their gaming experience in a bad way?

Well, I wasn't really thinking that the DM might be doubting his own judgment. Rather, I was offering to DM's that, should a "debate" arise with certain players as to the judgment call, the DM has an explicit concession within the rules of the spell that should make any such debate moot.

I know that, in the spirit of the game, Rule Zero really should not be argued, but I also know that, in the practice of the game, players often feel unsatisfied if they can't be given justification for a particular ruling. I was just hoping to provide more satisfaction to all parties, players and DM's alike.

Yeesh, does that make sense? It's late here, or I'm tired. Maybe even both.

Another teleport blocking spell is in Magic of Faerun: dimensional lock; 5th level (according to the recent errata) cleric & sorcerer/wizard spell, 15 ft. emanation, lasts 1 day/level, and blocks "bodily extradimensional travel" (including ethereal & astral effects, as well as teleportation effects). Very handy, especially given the long duration and level (same as teleport).

As for scrying, Andy Collins has a scrying variant, with higher DCs & such, on his website.
