Linguist at 1st Level

On p. 25, under Languages and Scripts, it says "You can't choose the Abyssal or Supernal languages as a 1st-level character." Is this restriction meant only for those races that can pick a language, or does it apply even to the Linguist feat?

I did not notice that. I'd like to assume it is in regards to the races that get to choose a language, and not the feat. Though waiting until level 2 isn't that hard. Heck it would seem silly to limit linguist since its just a one level limit.

Even if it did limit it, you could just retrain it at 2nd level and re-pick your languages to include Abyssal and/or Supernal.

Since page 25 specifically mentions both characters picking language by race, and the Linguist feat, in the paragraph immediately preceding the prohibition, I would say it is an absolute ban on 1st level characters learning Supernal or Abyssal by any means at all.

But you can learn them at 2nd level with a Linguist feat, so no biggie.
