List of Energy Types?

Brother Shatterstone

I've gone through all the core books, mainly their index and branching out from their, like energy resistance in the DMG, looking for a list of all the different energy types but I've yet to encounter a list of them.

Is their one?

Force is not an energy type. It is a descriptor that tells you what kind of effect something is. For example, Mage Armor provides you with a +4 armor bonus to your AC. It is also a force effect so its +4 armor bonus counts against an incorporeal touch attack whereas a normal armor bonus does not count against such attacks.

Also, positive and negative energy usually do not cause damage directly like fire and cold. Resist Energy does not protect against them, either.

Michael, hey that's what I was really wanting... I'll have to remember to look at spells also.

Now to figure out which one is best for my character’s energy resistance. :)

'Course, there used to be negative energy protection, which is now folded into death ward, and the MotP has positive energy protection in it...
