Me too. Too often magic can become so very predictable and taken for granted by adventuring groups in a standard D&D setting. But when you bring in psionics, exactly because people are less extremely versed in the rules and the powers, you bring in a bit of mystery and the unknown. It sometimes becomes easier to create a character where the other players won't say, "Oh Bob's just describing his magic missiles all weird to try to make his sorcerer seem different." This is true for Lasair, my Telepath on Living ENWorld, for example.I like that psionics throw something a little exotic into the mix...
