It seems to be following Joël around...

Personally, I don't really have a problem with people posting humanitarian appeals. Doesn't seem that different from people posting appeals here about helping out a gamer in need, just a little less specifically personal.

Such things are requested before hand, aren't political in nature, and I've seen such requests turned down. (The one I requested for someone else was turned down.)

Joël, were you not taught the old saw, "Two wrongs don't make a right"? Do you not see how calling them insulting things, whether you are naming specific people or not, does nothing to improve anything at all?

I am really sorry to bring this into a thread that was about musical performances, but it illustrates a point that perhaps needs it: Politics are not allowed largely for this reason - they don't stay isolated to a single thread. The ill-will generated in one thread leaks into others.

Way too political. Just for the record, one does not need to refer to a specific person nor to a grouping of persons in order to be political.
