Ahh like I suggested in the post you just quoted from? :\

You said that MnM only had 1 power source for mutation, I was responding to that claim, not the fact that you suggest we discuss what Power Sources we should use. Really wasn't trying to offend you.

Have you already thought about or decided upon the issue, whether characters should be newly created concepts (borrowing from existing ones is fair game, of course), or if it is also allowed to play existing characters (like Batman), most probably with either a remade background to fit into the world or some sort of event in the background which moves them here? I think the biggest point there is the actual name of the superhero.

I believe somewhere on page one it states that no one will be allowed to pull a character from someone else’s universe.

Now, if someone wants to borrow ideas, well there is nothing wrong with that. :)

Obviously its hard to think of a name that's never been used so its less of an issue but names like Batman, Superman, Wonder Women, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the what not should be avoided if at all possible.

Still on my break.

Ah, must have missed that then...

So, well-known, popular, big-name superheroes/-heroines should not be used, but smaller ones are fair game?

Sounds reasonable.

Let me put it this way. I wouldn’t object if someone wanted a character by the name of Firefly, Phoenix, or Oracle. (but I would object to Batgirl.)

Still on my break.

Powers are powers, some combinations just make sense. I wouln't object to a guy or girl who could heal fast and had claws, but if they were some super duper metal and his/her name was logan, something might be said.

I kind of like the idea that the characters might be the first or second generation of supers, but that is not a necessity.

As a possible background that incorporates stuff brought up in this thread (for brainstorming; everything is still open):

In the nights from December 28th, 2000 to January 3rd, 2001, a large, fiery trail was seen in the night sky over the world. Quickly dubbed the Millennium Comet, this phenomenon was the harbinger of stranger events, as people developed strange powers, or changed their form altogether. Some rumors even spoke of otherworldly creatures roaming the cities. These were the world's first brushes with the abilities of superheroes and supervillains.
Ever since these days, superheroes and villains have become more common, and most could be linked somehow to the appearance of the comet - but not all. As time passed, the UN announced the creation of a large team of such superheroes. This step, originally viewed with suspicion by both normal humans and supers, proved to be an important one in restoring the world to some order after the chaos the rise of supers brought.
Scientists observing the - to this date unknown - Millennium Comet found that it could not possibly exist, as the calculations of its orbit showed that it must have moved through the sun about twenty years ago. Further observations suggested that its orbit would change, creating a 30-year long cycle in which the Comet would come close to earth again. Only time will tell if this orbit will be stable... and only time will tell if the return of the comet again portents a rise in supers.

Eh, I'm sure you all can do better than I. :)
