Living Superheroes World (Come join the fun and the debate)

At this stage, the name of this thread is rather confusing, perhaps we would get more input if we created a more appropriate named thread, and had the poll start off in that new thread so people would be able to readily get involved?

Also, unless anyone has objections I am going to link this thread over to MutantsandMasterminds.com to see if anyone over there would be interested in joining in since there are no games over on their boards, and the subject of a living world has come up there (and been rejected by green ronin, at least on a professional level).

Ok, here's mine:

Power Level: Standard. I see no problem with individual GMs running lower-power games, but the default should be PL10.

Origin: Unlimited, but I do like the idea of a big event that makes people sit up and take notice. This was well done in Marvel's ill-fated New Universe with the White Event.

Setting: Real Life with recent divergence, but with the option of "retcon" events in the past. For example, I think it should be fine to say that your character was raised by a centuries-old order of mages, as long as that order was secret and it's plausible that its existence is not generally known.

There. That's 9 people. :) And with my votes the totals go to:

Power Level:
Standard (PL 10) 5 Votes
Near Average (8-12) 3 votes
New/Low Powered(PL 8) 1 vote
High Powered (PL 12+) 0 votes

Character Origin:
Nearly Unlimited 5 votes
1 Specific Origin 3 votes
Other (Explain) 1 vote

Setting Origin:
RL with Recent Divergence 5 votes [ex. Millenium Comet]
RL plus Super Heros 1 vote
RL with Returning Divergence 1 vote [ex. Return of Millenium Comet]
Not RL (completely created) 1 vote
Other (explain) 1 vote

This is not what that option was, this would be a different option, because mages are not real world, retconning history, is not real world. Its certainly not what I voted for when I voted real world. If this is what you wanted to vote for, please vote for that, instead of changing the option that people have already voted for. This isn't intended to be a personal thing, its about clarity. What you voted for was either 'other', or 'Not Real Life with Recen Divergent Event' .

I have all the votes in a spreadsheet that is easily updateable. Whenever a new player vots in the poll, I will update it, when its time to decide, I will supply the up-to-date info, I'll also post it every time we hit a milestone (10,15, etc)

A) Begining Character power (Pick one, or list in order of Preference)
2) Near Average (PL8-12)
3) Standard (PL10 exactly)
5) Other (See my earlier post on dividing the available power levels. Just an idea i threw out and may be unfeasable)

B) Character Origin
3) One Specific Origin for all (Single initially declaired event or idea)
2) Nearly Unlimited (Restricted very little if any)
I'm not sure what sources are available for superpowers, but one origin is problematic in the Millennium Comet type setup - Alien, a la Superman. The best I can come up with it an incorporeal entity that came into existance when the comet appeared.

C) Setting Origin
1) RL with Reciently catylicit/divergant event (the Millenium commet)
4) Not RL with Reciently catylicit/divergant event (the Millenium commet)
Presumably, 4) would allow stuff like Atlantis, or Martians to exist. Useful in some ways, problematic in others.

D) I am... (Choose all that are appropriate)
3) Possibly interested in Playing
If I can get the rules, or someone helps with character creation.

Howdy. I basically agree with what JimAde's said, and I do love me some M&M.

A) Begining Character power
3) Standard (PL10 exactly)

B) Character Origin
2) Nearly Unlimited (Restricted very little if any)

C) Setting Origin
3) RL Returning catylicit/divergant events (The return of the Millenium Commet) At least since the 1900s. Tunguska as the first or an early comet event?
2) RL plus Superheroes (Heroes throughout history)

D) I am...
3) Possibly interested in Playing
4) Possibly interested in GMing
5) Interested in Judging in some way
6) Interested in helping organizing things.

Okeydoke. When I saw "Real world" I figured that just meant history and known reality matched ours, not that the world actually was completely mundane before recent events. Then I guess I'm an "other".

Voting cause Bront asked me too.

A) Begining Character power (Pick one, or list in order of Preference)
2) Near Average (PL8-12)
3) Standard (PL10 exactly)
4) High Powered (>PL12)

B) Character Origin
3) One Specific Origin for all (Single initially declaired event or idea)
1) Limited Scope (Restricted to a few options WITH approvel)

C) Setting Origin
3) RL Returning catylicit/divergant events (The return of the Millenium Commet)

D) I am... (Choose all that are appropriate)
7) Other: Probaly none of the above...

E: Comments
A world without shape in the effort to please all will not make anyone happy.

New/Low Powered(PL 8) 8.33%, 1 vote

Character Origin:
Nearly Unlimited 50%, 6 votes
1 Specific Origin 41.67%, 5 votes
Other (Explain) 8.33%, 1 vote

[Velmont is the 'other' but when explained in his comments, it is more a neutral]

Setting Origin:
RL with Recent Divergence 41.67%, 5 votes [ex. Millenium Comet]
RL plus Super Heros 8.33%, 1 vote
RL with Returning Divergence 16.67%, 2 vote [ex. Return of Millenium Comet]

[velmont is the 'other', from his actual explination, it is RL with divergence, just not clear which, clarification would be helpful]
