Living Superheroes World (Come join the fun and the debate)

Ahh, so the 'catalyst event' is like the Dark Tide of Dark*Matter, or the rise of the Red Death in Masque of the Red Death, or the return of mana in Shadowrun? Something that turns the real-o-meter down a few notches, not something like Aberrant's Galatea explosion or the White Event that actually created all the supers?

Up to interpretation I suppouse, at least while we are discussing it, and polling about it. I simply suggested the above to reconcile the different views that people have, so we all get off on the right foot without any hard feelings.

Can be a lot of things. The main proposition is more just a comet that fly near Earth, and his visit have created the first super... still blurry but things are travelling in that direction.

Voting cause BS and Bront are...

A) Begining Character power (Pick one, or list in order of Preference)
2) Near Average (PL8-12)

B) Character Origin
1) Limited Scope (Restricted to a few options)

C) Setting Origin
3) RL Returning catylicit/divergant events (The return of the Millenium Commet)

D) I am... (Choose all that are appropriate)
1) Definately interested in Playing
2) Definately interested in GMing
5) Interested in Judging in some way
6) Interested in helping organizing things.

E) Methinks that a higher-up should look seriously into this idea before we go any further. Without the ability to create the forums necessary, and the backing, this idea has a short lifespan. Saying that, I think it's a great idea, but really only a handful of people should be discussing the specifics of it all, else it will turn into a Gong Show.

Knight Otu qualifies for that I suppouse as PBP mod, and certainly its possible or Brother Shatterstone would not have suggested it, and Living Enworld wouldn't be currently going on. We will pick more people up once MnM 2.0 hits the shelf, I garauntee it.

Would Living Superheroes be in addition to the Living Fantasy game or a replacement?

It would be in addition, the only thing this has to do with that, is using Living ENworld as a Model for getting set up and organization.

Well, I am glad to hear that. Even though I am not currently involved with the ENWorld Living Fantasy Game, I may want to be sometime in the future.

There are several who would be upset if it replaced it.

No, we're talking about making a new one. Once we get enough votes and support for it (I'm thinking a good 15+ potential interested people), we should be able to get this off the ground. So vote, even if it's simply "I want to play, I don't care about anything else".

On the power sources discussion, if we limit it to a few, what would we limit it too if we do the commet (which seems to be something somewhat popular). Supertech available? Alien? Mutation? Cosmic? Magic available? Psionics possable (though this could be because of another power source)? Anything specificly unavailable?

People tend to be interested in more limits than less from what I see, so I wouldn't limit it to 2. Supertech, Alien, and Mutation are a good set to start with, with Supertech the only one not directly linked to the commet, but not nessesarily impossable to deal with.

Just want to get the idea. I think we're making progress, and the Poll has helped a lot.

Once we're ready to start, we can have a Judge election, and I think electing 5 judges is a good number, some specializing in particular areas (Only need 2 character creation judges for example) and then 3 out of 5 can approve any changes or such once we set up a general idea.

What are our chances of getting our own forum for this? It would help us have several organizational threads.

Bront, we already have 16, and I am quite sure that once people have the book we will pick up more, interest definitely does not seem like it will be a problem area.

The only thing that I personally can think of as unallowing would be Aliens, other then that, everything else can kind of be justified by the Divergent of Event (which is in the lead). I think we can get by with:
Mutation
Mutate(radiactive bite, etc, caused by super science)
Magic (begins working after the divergent event)
Super Science (Including Armor, Cybernetics, etc)
Training

That should certainly be enough to cover 95% of things, and get us started, beyond that, the judges would be able to approve and deny additional Power Sources, or anything else that might come up.

Actually, in the beginning, 1 character judge is enough. It's when things start to get momentum that a second character judge is needed (speaking as someone who has seen the deluge of mails that a character judge has to deal with at times).

I'd put my mark at 20, maybe 25 votes, to allow for the inevitable dropouts on all three fronts (player, DM, judge). Judging by the response so far, those should be coming shortly.

I agree, from what I know, Alien is by far the hardest to justify with the currently preferred setup, with only a few rare possibilities. Disallowing it, at least for the start, may be good.

Kylara, what power sources are used as examples in M&M?
