False premise - that there is a single set of stories that are "the accounts" of Norse mythology.
Norse myth is fragmentary, at best, and there are many sources, and they are often contradictory. The stories change over time. In older versions, Odin isn't the All-Father, or even much of a war god. Newer versions have him in those roles.
Similarly for Loki. In general, in older versions of the tales Loki has more to do with mischeif than malice. Later versions have him more malicious from the get-go.
